Customer Review Summary
Food quality is where opinions split. Reviewers describe food that arrived remarkably fast and was cold, with a steak pie and Sunday roast that seemed microwaved, dried out parsnips, and chips meant to be triple cooked that were standard frozen ones. One diner was served coleslaw that had gone off and received only a brief apology from a waitress. Others cite a tasteless, undercooked vegetarian tart, gluten free burgers on sliced white bread that falls apart, and Guinness pricey for a pint.

“Good solid Sunday lunch experience at the Wheatsheaf, as expected for a gastro pub. Good value at £25 for 3 courses, prompt service, good portions, plenty of tables and good car park. Vegetarian option wasn’t great, pretty tasteless and under cooked tart. But the rest was fine. Service lacking; no additional drinks offered and I had to ask for the table to be cleared. But overall a great experience and we will definitely re visit.”

“Fantastic Pub, friendly staff, fantastic food. Sunday Roast is delicious. Has a Disabled toilet those you will need your Radar Key to use it.”

“Food was absolutely lovely and lots of choice, good gluten free menu. Service was great and staff are so friendly (Liv and Steph). Lovely interior and outdoor area for summer drinks too! The only thing I’d say is the gluten free burgers need a proper burger bun rather than just sliced white bread - the bread just falls apart straight away.”

“The food was really poor quality. We ordered a pie which came with old and completely dried out vegetables, particularly the parsnips were awful. Same issues with the kids roast. The burger was really small and again of poor quality but the worst bit, served with coleslaw that had gone off. I mentioned this to the waitress when collecting the plates and I just got a ‘sorry about that, I’ll let the kitchen know’ I would’ve expected someone more senior to come and apologise and offer some form of compensation for serving gone off food. Really poor quality food but at the price of a quality pub. The only saving grace was that the garden was lovely so maybe only visit for a drink if you want to stop by!”
