“We had a fabulous family meal here this evening. The waitress who served us was brilliant and very patient given we were such a big group. The food was delicious, everybody enjoyed their meals and the prices were very reasonable.”

“Very disappointed with the customer service and food experience. We ordered 5 meals. The lamb shank was finished, the chicken came cold, and the fish had no flavour at all — it was just batter. We ordered 2 vegetable burgers, but one came first and the second arrived 20 minutes later. The gammon we ordered didn’t arrive at all at first, and when we asked the waiters, they said our order was complete. After asking them to check again, they finally apologised and brought the gammon later. That was the only meal worth it — good flavour and tasty. The worst part was that all the food came separately, one by one, so one person was eating while the others were just watching and waiting. Overall, a very disappointing experience.”

“Nice early walk this morning and arrived at Anglers just as food service started. 31 degrees in the sunshine, sat outside by the river. Food was freshly prepared and portions were very generous. My husband ALWAYS orders steak and Stilton pie when it’s on the menu and this one is now his new favourite. Cannot fault it and the Bitter went down well too.Great service from the young girls serving the food x”

“Felt a bit unwelcoming by the staff, I felt like I’d annoyed them by being there. Dogs are only allowed in a small section of the pub, which I find odd given it’s in a walking destination. Decor wasn’t great, some lovely traditional things then just mixed with some proper tat, the room felt crowded although there weren’t many people in, and I just felt awkward to be there. Shame because it’s a lovely spot with great potential.”

“Went for festive lunch. Delicious food and plenty of it !! Roast turkey with all the trimmings excellent followed by an amazing blackcurrant cheesecake. Staff and service friendly and efficient. First time visiting the Anglers Rest and definitely won't be the last. Excellent food and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.”
