Customer Review Summary
Carbonara and cacio e pepe are the pastas ordered most, and reactions are mixed. One diner praised the flavour and texture of the cacio e pepe but found it lukewarm, while others called it basic or plain. Close behind, the mafaldine with beef shin ragu earns praise for its depth of flavour, though another reviewer found the ragu under-seasoned. Starters of soft focaccia with a trio of butters, olives and courgette fritte draw warm comments, and the tiramisu and doughnuts are described as generous portions. A seafood pasta and a pizzetta also get compliments, while a ham and pineapple pizzetta and a garlic and parsley pizza get lighter mentions. The most repeated complaints are small mains for the price, uneven seasoning and slow service, with food arriving at different times and a long wait for the bill. Several note very few vegetarian options. Others describe the servers as lovely and helpful. One diner who waited a long while for the shin ragu asked for it to go, and it appeared almost immediately with an apology.

“We visited Onda on the 2nd and had such a lovely experience. The food was delicious, but what really stood out to us was the service. A huge thank you especially to Emory (I hope I’ve remembered her name correctly!), who I believe was the manager working that day. She was incredibly kind, helpful and welcoming, and really made our experience even better. I also want to give a shout-out to the lovely girl who served us and had just started her very first day. She was so friendly and helpful, and did an amazing job! Great food, lovely atmosphere and, most importantly, such a wonderful team. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️”

“Pleasant host seated me quickly, but service after that was poor. Waited about 10 minutes for a server who avoided eye contact and made the interaction feel cold and awkward. When I asked for a recommendation they said they were vegetarian, then framed it in a way that felt ideologically driven and made the conversation strained when I asked for another option. Ordered the shin ragu and waited 35–40 minutes, with only olives arriving in between. When I asked for it to-go because I had a train, the server said “we usually have customers do this, but since you waited so long I’ll do it for you” — as if they were doing me a favour. The food then appeared almost immediately with an apology. The ragu itself was under-seasoned and crying out for salt and pepper. Also, when I ordered just water the server replied “yes girl” — I’m not a girl. Overall the service, timing and lack of seasoning made it a frustrating experience. Would not recommend. Don’t aim to be a critical person but feel others should be aware. P.s. £16.50 for the portion size…I’ll let you make your own judgement.”

“A brilliant meal celebrating my birthday, with my partner! Such great food, atmosphere and service. Harriet was especially lovely and shared some recommendations of her own which was great. Will be recommending and coming back in the future for sure. We shared olives, in house focaccia and the three butters to start. The carbonara, vodka pasta, garlic and parsley pizza for mains & the tiramisu, gelato with sea salt, honey and olive oil for dessert. All were so tasty, great selection of cocktails too! 10/10 service, food and vibes☺️”

“The most amazing meal, a lovely special place to have had dinner with a friend. The service was incredible - Harriett (apologies if misspelt) was fantastic, professional, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable I can’t say enough! If I could Harriett a grade out of 5, it would 11 :) All the staff we spoke to were amazing and the restaurant itself is beautiful. We spent just shy of £90 on two people and we did order a bottle of wine with our food! I felt it was well worth the money spent. I will be coming for every special occasion”

“A really disappointing visit. We had really high hopes having seen Onda all over social media, but the food fell short of our expectations. At least it photographs well? We had the courgette fritte to start which were amazing and really set the bar high. Light batter, nicely seasoned and a great size portion. The basil mayo was lovely. The bucatini cacio e pepe was very basic, as expected, but the portion was extremely small for the price. The lumache with vodka sauce & ‘nduja was overly sweet, not spicy or seasoned in the slightest, and the pasta at the bottom (where the heat from the oven hadn’t reached it?) was mushy and raw. The crust of the mushroom pizzetta was delicious, but the toppings were tasteless, overpowered by a gritty mushroom duxelle?, and lacked seasoning. We were asked upon ordering if we wanted parmesan for our pasta, but then had to sit and wait with food in front of us until we could catch someone and ask for it. The food also came out at different times, and a warning on that would have been nice. I never normally leave negative reviews, but this was so incredibly disappointing. We didn’t even try the tiramisu because we couldn’t face another letdown. It also would have been nice if someone had asked how our food was at any point, especially since I left most of my pasta.”
