About Carluccio's
Upstairs at Manchester Piccadilly station, Carluccio's is an Italian restaurant in Manchester, at Unit 21. The brand began in 1991 as Antonio and Priscilla's food shop on Neal Street, and the first Caffè opened in 1999 as a continuation of that shop. Breakfast and lunch are both served, with Eggs Benedict on the breakfast menu and seafood pasta among the Italian dishes. Coffee, including mocha, comes alongside a selection of cakes. The station location suits a meal or a stop before catching a train, and orders are taken and food served quickly for travelers in a hurry.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers use this restaurant above Piccadilly station as a stop before a train, and the most repeated praise is quick service, from a diner in a rush who was seated and served promptly to a table that wanted coffee and cakes while waiting. Breakfast draws the most detail: an Egg Benedict made without pancetta, an avocado smoked salmon dish praised for taste and presentation, and a mocha with a perfect milk-froth ratio. Close behind are a fresh, tasty seafood pasta, fab coffee and an expansive selection of cakes. The recurring complaint is small portions, raised by several reviewers, one saying they were small for the price. Others mention music so loud that waiters had to lean in to hear orders, slow order-taking at a birthday meal with staff on their phones, and a disappointing cannoli. One diner with a booking arrived to find the shutters down and nobody answering. Even so, a large group between trains reported orders taken quickly and the food out and eaten within half an hour.

“Went here for a relatives birthday. Overall, the food and atmosphere was great but the staff were really slow at taking our orders and also went on their phones some of the time instead of coming to take our order.”

“We were a party of 14 and had 50 minutes to eat between trains. Beth was incredibly helpful and efficient, got the orders taken very quickly and food was out and eaten within half an hour. And delicious! Really impressed.”

“A wonderful cafe/restaurant with the perfect ambience for a breakfast stop during a busy schedule. Mariana was kind and exceptional with her service. I really commend her for patiently suggesting the best dishes based on my taste. I had their Egg Benedict made without the Pancetta upon Mariana's request - absolutely one of the best Benedicts I've had for a comfort breakfast. She also knew her Coffees as well, making a quality Mocha which was with the perfect Milk-froth ratio. All the staffs were having a kind approach tot he customers and the shop's atmosphere was clean, elegant and relaxed - worthy enough to stop in-between a packed schedule. Thank you for the comforting experience. Would strongly recommend this to busy travelers looking for a peaceful pitstop.”

“Booked for 5pm tonight, turned up and the shutters were down, nobody there, no response when ringing. We had to find somewhere else to eat on a busy Saturday night. Shocking customer service”

“A far more civilised place to wait for your train with fab coffee, an expansive selection of cakes and great facilities.”

“Carluccio’s began life in 1991 when Antonio and Priscilla opened their food shop in Neal Street, bringing the finest quality regional Italian food to London. They carefully wrote each label by hand and explored the length and breadth of Italy to find the best ingredients. In 1999 they opened the first Carluccio’s Caffè in Market Place – an authentic Italian restaurant in the truest sense of the word, and a continuation of their successful food shop.”
