Quick info
About The Deansgate
The Deansgate is a Greene King pub in Manchester with a prominent corner entrance at 321 Deansgate, and it has been serving travellers for over 200 years. A large central bar anchors the ground floor, with choir-stall style booths to one side and little tables for perching a beer. The drinks range covers pump beers, bottle beers, cocktails such as the aperol spritz, and non-alcoholic options. A gaming machine sits towards the rear, and an upstairs area adds a second level to the ground floor. Sport shows on BT and Sky Sports, and match days run busy and noisy. The pub also has a roof terrace. It stands next to the Beetham Tower, near Deansgate Station.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the staff, describing them as friendly, helpful and lovely, with one diner recalling a server who kept them company while a friend ran late and the table filled with food. The food is called delicious by repeat visitors, and the drinks range gets praise for non-alcoholic cocktails, pump beers and bottled beers, plus a cold Amstel pint and a lovely aperol spritz. Several value the setting as a proper, nostalgic English pub among the new towers, calm at lunchtime and busy and noisy on a match day. The caveats are specific. One match-day visitor found the bar staff unfriendly, with one dismissive when asked about a reserved table. Another called the free members' lemon tart with vanilla ice cream among the worst desserts they have had, citing a soft base, runny curd and odd ice cream. That match-day reviewer later softened their rating after the manager replied directly to ask for feedback.

“We stumbled across this pub after going to catch the train. It's great to have a good old English pub around among the new uprising towers and fine dining etc. We miss it as we live in Spain. It's nostalgic at it's best.”
