About The Blues Kitchen Manchester

The Blues Kitchen Manchester is a blues bar on Quay St in Manchester that runs a kitchen built around hickory-smoked comfort food. Live bands play in the evenings, with seating near the stage for those who want to watch, and DJs take over the music on other nights. The menu opens with starters and small plates such as sticky wings, and the double cheeseburger comes with chips for a full plate. Dessert goes to the cookie skillet. A lunch deal covers the daytime, and cocktails come with half price offers. A bottomless brunch rounds out the week, served with a limited drinks selection.

Customer Review Summary

Live music draws the most praise, with reviewers describing a live band and a professional show near the stage, and service comes close behind, with servers and hosts described as warm and swift. On the plate, the mac and cheese is called outstanding, while the chicken sandwich with crispy fried chicken, the artichoke dip and the cookie skillet also earn praise. The double cheeseburger splits opinion: one reviewer found the chips very well seasoned, while another says both burgers arrived pink in the middle and without the bacon they were meant to have. Fries are a recurring complaint, described as stuck together in clumps and as crispy as little bricks. Others found the Oreo doughnuts too sweet and the sticky wings messy. One reviewer at an England match says door staff refused re-entry after a step outside and sent them to the back of a long queue. At bottomless brunch, one host kept drinks topped up so the cup was never empty.

“Came here for bottomless brunch, and was not disappointed! The food was nice, which often isn’t the case at places doing bottomless, got the double cheeseburger that comes with chips, which are very well seasoned. There is limited drinks on offer for bottomless but was still nice, got the rum punch which was very fresh and easy to drink! The host was so on it with topping out drinks up and ordering us new one, I never really had an empty cup on the table, wish I would have got her name as she was just lovely to us all aswell. Will deffo be coming back here again!”

“Arrived on a Sunday 6pm… Atmosphere was a little quiet compared to what I’ve previously read, which was nice, as we were eating, but I’m guessing having live music on later it could get a little more lively… food was rather nice… only slight let downs are the menu needs a few more dessert options, and if you get the sticky wings to start you need either a finger bath or more wet wipes… otherwise great experience and booked to go again… the girl Izzy that looked after us as wanted a bigger table was remarkably and the lad that served us was great although didn’t get his name.”

“Went to watch the England game, well organised with pre match buildup. Just be sure that if you need to leave at any point for some fresh air, that you tell the door staff whilst looking in their eyes & at their face that you'll be coming back in. Otherwise you'll not be allowed back in & instead be told to join the back of the lengthy queue.”

“After one night at the blues kitchen, you will have an experience to fondly cherish forever. I spent a wonderful evening with my partner and soaked in the beautiful soul and charisma of the musicianship, phenomenal food and staff with hearts of gold. The performers play a great professional show. If you have a deep passion for music, have played a stage before or you just like a wholesome music vibe, the blues kitchen will deliver. Furthermore, a deep a special thank you to the staff because they make the restaurant shine. Rachel always served us with a smile and such great and warm conversation. The service was not only swift with amazing food, but they made it a human and whole hearted experience. We also felt well looked after by Samara, who made sure we had a great experience near the stage and felt looked after. Exceptional people, leading to an exceptional experience to remember 💎”
