About Kielys Irish Bar

Kielys Irish Bar pours Irish coffee made with real cream, alongside Irish drinks available both bottled and on draft, at its home on Watson St in Manchester city centre. Irish memorabilia fills the room, and drinks are ordered and paid for at the bar, with no reservations taken. Live music is part of the programme, with a live band and room for dancing. Weekdays run quieter, while weekends and event nights bring more people in. The entrance is step free and wheelchair accessible, so visitors with mobility needs can get in without a step, and seating outside gives drinkers the option of sitting out in the open air. The bar opens Tuesday through Sunday and closes on Mondays.

Customer Review Summary

Live music and dancing anchor most accounts, with several describing a lively atmosphere, a live band, and people dancing well into the night, including one group who carried on dancing here after a show. Close behind is the drink range, singled out for Irish options both bottled and on draft, and one visitor calls out the Irish coffee served with real cream as delicious. Others point to the Guinness barrels around the outdoor terrace, the Irish memorabilia, and watching live sport with friends, and one quiet weekday visitor found the bartender kind and welcoming. Views on price split, with several calling drinks reasonably priced while one finds pints high even for the city centre, and one reviewer misses actual Irish music. The complaints run sharper elsewhere: one describes drinks tasting odd and the Irish theme as unconvincing, another notes the place was severely understaffed though staff stayed friendly under pressure. One customer recounts being served four tequilas instead of vodka lime sodas, being told by the bar manager that the order was theirs, security being involved, and an emailed refund request going unanswered.

It's a great venue, reasonably priced, but severely understaffed although the staff who were on were friendly and polite given the pressure they were under

Pretty poor - drinks very weird and taste funny - no atmosphere- certainly NOT an Irish bar - a very poor pretend Irish bar - AVOID

Loved the outside with the Guinness barrels around the terrace, very pleasant indoor space. We only ordered Irish coffee that came with real cream. It was delicious. Definitely will be coming back.

I’ve had to leave a review as I tried to give the bar the benefit of the doubt by emailing them however I have heard nothing. On Friday I brought my friends to this bar having been a frequent customer and coming with my family often. When I got to the bar I asked for 4 vodka lime sodas and paid happily. When I got back to my table, myself and my friends realised all 4 drinks were wrong and it was in fact tequila. I cannot drink tequila due to a reaction. I went to the bar and politely told the bar staff the drinks were wrong, to which I was met with such rude confrontation by the female bar manager who told me I was wrong and I ordered tequila. Again I would never order tequila as I can’t drink it. I went back to the table and realised I’d just wasted money on 4 drinks which were all wrong. Myself and my friends were also made to feel uncomfortable. I went back to the bar and asked if there was a manager who I can calmly speak to as the lady behind the bar was incredibly difficult to talk to. Unfortunately it turned out she was the bar manager. Before she even heard what I could say she stormed past and shouted “you asked for tequila” and walked off to security. Bare in mind I hadn’t drank anything at this point because I couldn’t. There was absolutely no need to get security on a paying customer like that. I explained to security the situation and he was very polite and understood. I went back to my table and myself and my friends left, leaving drinks on the table. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be bringing anymore friends and family here as I was humiliated by a very normal issue in a loud bar. I have also asked for my money back but that doesn’t seem very likely either.

I’m sure it’s probably even better on a weekend, I was the only person in there on a Tuesday with only one other customer coming after a few minutes. Bartender was serving while on her phone, but to be honest I can’t blame her, it must be so life draining not serving people all day. She was actually really kind and welcoming as well with a great personality and attitude. The decor is really nice and it’s ultimately a really great location as well.

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
