Quick info
About The Old Nags Head
The Old Nags Head is a Manchester United pub in Manchester, with George Best photos and memorabilia covering the walls at 19 Jackson's Row. Other Manchester United photos hang alongside pictures that follow the history of Manchester and the surrounding areas, and football plays on the television for match viewing. The pub spreads across two floors, with upper rooms as well as the lower level, which gives groups and football watchers more than one space to settle in. At the bar, cask ales and keg taps are poured, including Boddington's. A roof deck pays tribute to Manchester musicians, naming Tony Wilson and Morrissey.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come mainly for the Manchester United identity, with walls of old photos and memorabilia that one calls a shrine, and a proper football pub feel for watching a match. Close behind is the decor across two floors, including flowers, Manchester history on the walls and a roof deck with a tribute to the city's musicians. The beer earns steady mentions too, with a wide run of draft taps and some cask handles. One reviewer singles out cask Landlord and notes what may have been Dizzy Blonde on as well. Several call the prices reasonable for the location, and visitors describe drinking and chatting with a mix of regulars and tourists. The caveats are small. One reviewer found the service not especially warm, another notes the pub is not dog friendly, and a visitor who came around five on a Wednesday found it quiet, though it began filling as they left. One American visitor called it their first real English pub experience, watching football on the television with locals.

“I visited the The Old Nags Head on July of 2026 - stopped in few a few drinks after dinner and it was fantastic. Great decor, lots of football history abounds.”

“A group of us visited Manchester from the USA several months ago and enjoyed The Old Nags Head! We drank and chatted with locals. This pub was my first real English Pub experience. The atmosphere of this establishment is amazing. The walls are covered in decor and, of course, we watched some football ⚽️ on the television. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this pub ☆☆☆☆☆”

“For fans of Man UTD & more importantly George Best this is a must visit venue. Lots of photos adorn the walls. And you must venture to the roof deck for homage to Manchester musical luminaries (Tony Wilson, Morrissey...). A solid set of beer taps. We had a tasty Boddington's. Service is maybe not the most warm & fuzzy but that's OK. A good mix of regulars & tourists.”

“Fantastic pub. Amazing design and appearance. If you like Man Utd you will live this place as its basically a shrine to them and specifically George Best. So many great photos to look at. Good beer selection. Multiple levels and lots of seating available.”

“Great back street boozer in the city centre. Might not feel at home if you're a blue; lots of United and especially Best photos and memorabilia. Had cask Landlord (TT) and it may have been Dizzy Blonde on. Also had the new/old Boddies on Keg, now brewed by JW Lees. Quite quiet when we went in, 5pm ish on a Wednesday. Started busying up as we left, won't take that personally. Not dog friendly unfortunately, just to put that out there. Reasonable prices considering where it is as well.”
