  “The best steak I have had in a long time I don't generally have steak in a restaurant because no one seems to cook it the way I like it, but this was absolutely spot on 100%. A bit pricey when you have to pay for chips and veg separate but was worth it for the quality of the steak. Alex was our server and looked after us explaining that the extra items came separate from the steak. We'll call again next time I'm in Manchester. Would definitely recommend going to this place”

  “The quality of food is exceptional. Hidden by the pub like atmosphere and menu restictions. This is evidenced by the quality ingredients used, combination of sauces, cooking methods and the skill of chefs in tuning the flavours. A hidden gem indeed, with the chef and menu designers destined for bigger things. Only need to tidy up small corners of prep to truly shine.”

  “It was our 1st visit here for mothers day. Had the roast beef, was very enjoyable. Found it a little expensive although you should bear in mind it's in the city centre and it was mother's day. Thought the 2 sides (single portions) of pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese were a little expensive at £16”

  “Came in for a pint and was blown away with a great selection. Had to sample a few of the ales. Really enjoyed the Fountain House Cask that was on. Had some nibbles and shared a roast with my girlfriend. Staff were very attentive and will definitely bring my parents here when they come to visit next month! 10/10”

  “Me and my family had such a lovely experience at Fountain House in Manchester, and a big part of that was thanks to our waitress, Shamane. She was absolutely wonderful—so friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble, and she made sure we were comfortable and well looked after throughout. The new menu is fantastic, with a great variety of options and everything we tried was delicious. You can really tell there’s been a lot of thought put into it. The drink selection was also impeccable—so many choices, and perfectly suited to complement the food. The place has a lovely home feeling and no matter how busy Shamane didn’t forget our table😉 Overall, it was a brilliant visit, and Shamane truly made it extra special with her warm and professional service. I’ll definitely be coming back!”

  “Starters were delicious, (salt & vinegar onion rings & salt and pepper chicken) but took time to arrive at the table. We'd ordered the burgers for our mains. So the funny story is, we'd explained that we were on a timeframe due to us attending the palace theatre after. Unusually the burgers were brought out with our starters which wasn't wanted. So they went back to the kitchen. When we were ready for our mains we were told they'd be a few minutes as they were making fresh ones 🤷‍♀️ they finally arrived and my mums burger was pink inside and mine was completely raw. So they were sent back and then we waited for the third time for our burgers which finally arrived and were delicious! Can't fault the front of house staff, they were brilliant and very apologetic. They removed the cost of the burgers from the bill.”

  “After walking around the Manchester Xmas market with my family we popped into huge pub/restaurant which is located very close to the main market fair-wheel. My daughter who is a student in the city had been here previously and rated the food and drink, so we dived in. The front of this place is beautifully lit up with xmas light and upon entering made us feel very welcome and Christmassy. We headed downstairs where there is a much quieter vibe and despite not booking we managed to grab a table for the five of us. We arrived around 1:30pm on Sunday. If you are looking to visit I would high recommend booking in advance as the place was clearly very popular, and Sunday roasts are very much an attraction for family and couple groups. The restaurant downstairs has a lovely feel to it, and would be suitable for a group or a romantic dinner for two. It has a well stocked bar and a mix of table options, including nice booth type seating. We were looked after by Maisie who was extremely helpful and made our visit very enjoyable. The menu had a great range of starters and mains, plus some initial smaller treats. As a group we ordered the baked camembert sharer, buttermilk fried chicken with Korean BBQ sauce, carrot & ginger soup and scotch egg. All of these were well present, cooked and tasted great. For mains we ordered lamb roast dinners, fish & chips and a cheeseburger meal. The roasts came with huge Yorkshire puddings and with a very generous portion of meat and vegetables. The fish & chips were also massive, and nice to come with tartar sauce, curry sauce & mush peas. Overall, very impressive food and more than plenty in each serving making it good value for money. We had no room for desserts! Would like to thank Maisie for her great service. Defo recommend this restaurant/pub in particularly over the xmas period. Including drinks, starter & mains we spent average £40 per person. Great location in the centre of the city, will certainly go back again.”

  “Great food with fantastic flavours. Panzanella had a rainbow medley of tomatoes with a really tasty burella. It was missing a bit more texture/bread, however very filling. Kimchi tempura was inventive and unusual. Again, really good flavours with coconut yoghurt a good compliment. Steaks were cooked to perfection (minor but would've preferred steak knives). Berry crumble was perfect with a crunchy flaked almond topping.”
