Customer Review Summary

Friendly bar staff are the most repeated draw at this rock and metal pub. Reviewers describe lovely bartenders, quick glass clearing and dead friendly security, including older visitors who felt out of place. Beer comes next. The ales rotate, with Tribute and a White Witch pale ale singled out, and Robinson's Dizzy Blond and Trooper also get a mention. One visitor found most of the other beers a bit standard, apart from the IPA. Regulars also point to gig afterparties, DJ sets and a goth night, and several treat it as their go to after concerts. The criticisms are sharper. One reviewer called the staff and bouncers very rude and objected to Barbie Girl playing six times in a single session. A regular said the live streaming of evenings left them uncomfortable about being filmed and exposed to nasty online comments. Another reviewer, otherwise happy, wished the jukebox had more deathcore.

“Staff are always lovely here and the venue is great if you're any sort of metalhead from 80s hair metal to progressive blackened jazz metal, I stop in for a pint usually when I'm in town waiting for the train and get to have 20 minutes of fun music and a decent beer 🙂”

“I've not been in here for years (well, decades as it happens . . .) but nipped in last night for a swift pint as I had some time to kill. It was great to see a thriving proper music pub, and while I probably stood out like a sore thumb for being an old git (and the only person not wearing black) I found the staff, clientele and security blokes to be dead friendly. Thanks!”

“Very rude staff and "bouncers". Also, we spent 2hrs there and they played 'Barbie Girl' 6 times. It's terrible. One can also see their replies to those who left a bad review... The owner/social media manager can't handle the truth. We don't want to hear 'Barbie Girl' one more time!!”

“I'm old and it's a bit young for me but I was with my 27-year old son who is now obsessed with the place and wishes we had something similar in Denmark. Staff were very efficient and friendly (big award to the glass clearer - she was faster than the Road Runner). We went back twice. Only criticism was that most of the beers were "a bit standard". The IPA was good though, so I stuck with that. Would have liked a few more quality beers on tap. Music suited the place too.”
