Customer Review Summary

Brunch is the main draw, with Turkish eggs named by two reviewers, alongside steak and eggs, smashed avocado on gluten free toast and berry brioche French toast, plus flat whites described as great. Friendly staff come up repeatedly, from front of house finding a table for a walk in, to a server who let one visitor work on a laptop for hours, to a bartender who knew the cocktails well. The Wednesday live music quiz, table service on the busy front patio and a good pint of Guinness also get mentions, though one drinker notes there was no real ale. The one serious complaint comes from a single review in which a veggie burger arrived as a real meat burger. The replacement came after the diner's partner had finished eating, the offered free Coke had to be chased, and someone who appeared to be the manager asked nearby tables about their food but skipped theirs. Another visit ends with staff dashing around the beer garden all afternoon, adjusting the covers between sunshine and a heavy storm.

“Great time at Folk for the live music quiz on Wednesday. James on the bar was super helpful and knowledgeable about all the cocktails. Will be back :)”

“Popped in with Shaslic on a warm July afternoon. Been once before a few years ago. No real ale so had a good pint of Guinness and a glass of a rosé viño verdi. Table service. Sat on the front patio on the busy Burton Road drag. Nice bar.”

“We had a really lovely visit to Folk. The food and drinks were great, but what really stood out was the service and attention to detail from the team. The weather couldn’t make its mind up – one minute it was blazing sunshine and the next there was a heavy storm! The staff were constantly adjusting the covers in the beer garden to keep everyone comfortable, and they did it with a smile despite having to dash around all afternoon. It didn’t go unnoticed and made a real difference to our visit. A really welcoming atmosphere, attentive staff and a great place to spend a few hours. We’ll definitely be back.”

“I visited Folk between leaving one accommodation and arriving at another on an 3-day working tour of the north. I arrived mid morning on a Sunday with some work to do, hoping to plug in my laptop and hang out for a few hours. It was really busy when I arrived and I explained what I needed fully expecting to be turned away. Instead I was shown to a quiet corner with a plug socket where I was served by Carolyn. I ended up staying for 3 hours and getting everything I needed done. By the time I left the indoor section was empty and but the tables outside were still full, so it was the perfect place to work. I had 2 peppermint teas and smashed avocado on gluten free toast. It was really tasty and the service was great. All the staff were friendly and helpful but Carolyn really went the extra mile as my server. She even investigated the best parks for me to spend the afternoon in before I went to work. Recommend!”

“Lovely space to catch up, grab brunch or just a coffee date. Many thanks to Abbie who sorted out a great table for us on a walk in.”

Good to know

“An independent neighbourhood bar and kitchen on Burton Road specialising in coffee, brunch, freshly made sandwiches, stunning salads and infamous burgers. Serving up alongside our food menu is a fine selection of wines, seasonal cocktails, draught beers and of course low ABV and softs… We change our menu regularly, testing the creativity and versatility of our chef’s, which our customers love. We adore kids and dogs and both are welcome. Not that we’d put kids and dogs in the same category. See you soon hopefully ❤️”
