About Wallop Didsbury
Wallop Didsbury is a two-floor bar at 97 Lapwing Lane in West Didsbury, Manchester, with a DJ playing in the bar and quiz nights on the programme. The drinks list covers craft beer, cocktails, wine and spirits, and the bar staff will customise a cocktail to taste. Late-night cocktails keep the bar going for those out after dinner. Food comes from Midori, including gyoza, and the menu also lists a fish finger butty and the wallop smash burger. Window tables give couples and small parties somewhere to settle, while a private dining room suits groups. The bar also takes private hire for birthdays, celebrations and special events, with drinks packages arranged to fit the occasion.

Customer Review Summary
Praise centers on the drinks, where one reviewer describes a bartender who was skilled and happy to customise cocktails to taste, and others mention a good rosé, a good pint of pale ale and friendly, welcoming staff. Food comes close behind, with the gyoza called some of the best one group has had, plus the fish finger butty and the Wallop smash burger. A couple of reviewers also mention a funky vibe and a great crowd. A recurring set of complaints says the bar has gone downhill. Former regulars describe disinterested, unhelpful bar staff, and one objects to how female staff are treated and quickly fired. Another says a birthday booking was confirmed, then communication stopped, the manager would not speak to them, and an email later claimed it was double booked. One reviewer says the DJ has taken centre stage, so loud by 6pm on a Sunday that friends could not hear each other. Staff and the DJ said they had no control, and the volume dropped briefly before rising louder on the next track.

“Organised a birthday party here where they confirmed the booking then stopped communicating with me. When I went in to find out what was going on the manager wouldn't speak to me. Then they emailed to say it was double booked. Had to organise elsewhere last minute. So disappointing and cowardly. Wouldn't ever go there again.”

“This place has gone extremely downhill. Used to visit often but it seems there’s been a drastic change to the bar staff and management and evidently not for the best. Staff are extremely disinterested and unhelpful. It’s a real shame as this used to be a great spot.”

“Used to be my go-to pub in didsbury but seeing how they treat (female) staff and immediatly fire them is so disappointing. Only heard bad things from people who have visited in the last few months. It’s a real shame to see this place go downhill”

“Great crowd, friendly people... ignore the people posing for a photo”

“Way too loud to hear the person next to you - even on a Sunday afternoon! Not sure what has happened in the last year - it used to be a local for us, although the DJ has become centre stage now. Did not go back for 6 months, until some friends suggested it one afternoon. By 6pm we could not hear each other. Asked for it to be turned down and the bar claimed they had not control, DJ said the same. However, a few mins later the volume dropped, only to rise even louder during the next track. My friends walked out and went to Neighbourhood a few doors down - which has become the new local. A real shame.”
