Quick info
About Barlow Croft
Barlow Croft is a pub in Manchester at Parrs Wood Entertainment Centre, with a daily carvery and an in-house "wacky warehouse" play area for children. A carvery server carves the meat, and roast potatoes and gravy come with it, with mashed potatoes and mushy peas also on offer. The menu extends beyond the carvery to a mixed grill and "chick'n'mix". The play area has its own children's section, which suits families visiting with young children. Tables come in varying sizes, including two-seaters, and guests can ask for a quieter spot.

Customer Review Summary
The carvery is the main draw, with reviewers praising the generous amount of meat and the mashed potatoes, and one calling the vibe unmatched. The mix grill and the chick'n'mix come next in the praise, and one reviewer notes the very good half term offers on kids' food. Service splits the reviews. Several describe staff as accommodating, including one who arranged a quiet spot for a child with ASD, and the man on the carvery is called very nice. Others found staff totally uninterested, and one regular of around ten visits calls the experience hit or miss. The sharpest complaints concern the kitchen and bookings. Reviewers report burnt, rock hard roasties, a steak overcooked when medium was requested, overcooked chips, and an app order that arrived far later than expected. One party of 14 was turned away, even for separate tables, while the dining room looked nearly empty. Another parent recalls a son finishing all his food and his ice cream with smarties toppings at a two-seater table he chose himself.

“We came just a bit after the kitchen closed but they made sure we had a LOVELY carvery anyways, Lewis is fabulous, great for family fun. Loved the mashed potatoes especially but the vibe was unmatched!”

“Lovely carvery (just don’t understand the mushy peas lol). Staff are always great here. The lady who served us today was especially great 😄”

“Really helpful with my son's food requests this afternoon after he got upset. He ended up eating all his food and enjoying his ice cream with smarties toppings. He also wanted to sit on his own on a 2 seater table close to ours and was never asked to move which was really helpful and considerate 😀”

“First thing was walked into the pub and no staff come to us. We found table free so we sat down. We ordered food and drinks thinking though the app was quicker but I was wrong. I put the order though at 18.31 we got our drinks almost straight away not a problem. The food took over 35 minutes and the steak was over cooked when I wanted med the chips were over cooked ant the burger and the steak was teast less. Waiting for our order to come out there was a shopping trolley with rubbish though the pub were the carvery not good looking at that and the food is out on the hot plates. We heard a crash in the kitchen and a lad come out and said what had happened plates over the floor and they had put them back on the shelf without washing them.”

“Having visited around 10 times I'd say it can be incredibly hit or miss. Some staff are great (special mention to the carvery chap) others can be totally uninterested. Very good half term offers for kid's food.”
