Quick info
About Friendship Inn
Friendship Inn is a Hydes pub in Fallowfield, Manchester, on Wilmslow Rd, set in a Tudor building whose interior has been refurbished into a roomy open-plan space with varied seating. The bar serves Hydes ales, including Hydes Original Anvil, alongside plenty of guest ales. A weekday happy hour brings deals on ales, and the pub is open daily. Plenty of screens show live sport on TV, and a quiz night gives the room another draw, with an early arrival the way to secure a table. Students and locals make up the regular crowd. The pub sits just off the Fallowfield Loop line, which makes it a convenient stop for cyclists.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the outdoor space, with the patio and back beer garden described as good and cosy, alongside a roomy interior with varied seating. Close behind is the beer: Hydes ales, a pint of Hopster and plenty of guest ales draw praise, and one reviewer mentions deals on the ales at happy hour. Several describe a friendly, welcoming atmosphere with a mix of locals and students, and the many screens make it a pub for watching football and other sport. A quiz night is called very fun. Prices split opinion, with some calling them reasonable for a student pub and others noting a Cruzcampo at £5.30 felt on the expensive side. The sharpest complaints concern service and upkeep. One reviewer describes bar staff being disrespectful to several customers on a Wednesday night, and another says the beer tasted off, the tables looked dirty and the toilets were disgusting. Others, though, call the staff polite and friendly, and one family celebrated a 90th birthday there.

“Nice large pub, great amount of outdoor and indoor space. Staff are polite & welcoming Great atmosphere for watching sports.. (as that was my reason for attending the venue)”

“The beer is kept horribly and always tastes off, which is criminal considering it’s easily the most expensive pub in the area. The tables often seem a bit dirty and the toilets are the most disgusting place on earth. Great beer garden though.”

“I would give this place minus stars if i could 😡 Services was shocking, bar staff was disrespectful to multiple customers while i was waiting to be served and then proceeded to treat me as an inconvenience on a Wednesday night!!! Even when busy, customer’s experiences should be a priority. This pub is poorly staffed, all too busy pleasing one another to care about customers. Simply rude and made me and my family feel as though we were an inconvenience on several occasions. Absolutely shocking, the ‘manager’ was also a joke. Not a good look for the pub honestly”

“Good local pub. Friendly atmosphere and for a place that a lot of students go to I cannot blame the prices! Very reasonable. I went to the quiz once or twice before and it was very fun - I would recomend coming early to secure a seat or table. The outside is also really cosy at the back. Just a very lovely place!”

“Nostalgia just isn't what it used to be... or so it seems. Returning for a whistlestop tour of where I was 50 years ago this month. Some have been flattened, some have changed... but The Friendship Inn is still there in Fallowfield, Manchester. Still serving a good punt of Hydes Original Anvil Ales. The inside has undergone some refurbishment creating more space... or is this the Tardis in disguise 🤔😂”
