Quick info
About Coppice Wood Farm - Dining & Carvery
Coppice Wood Farm - Dining & Carvery is a pub on Mercury Way in Trafford Park, Manchester, built around a carvery and an indoor play area for children. The carvery comes with roast potatoes, gravy, vegetables and Yorkshire puddings, and it runs as a Sunday roast format on every day of the week. Mornings bring a self-serve, all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast, with standard and vegetarian English options and a kids' version of each. Lighter choices include baked beans on toast and scrambled egg on toast. The main menu also lists burgers and gammon and egg, and the kitchen makes its own desserts, including sticky toffee pudding served with custard. An ice cream parlour sits on site. Orders can be placed through the app.

Customer Review Summary
The carvery is the main draw, called stunning and fantastic, with gravy and roasties singled out and a layout with plenty of space. Close behind is the neatly presented buffet breakfast, then main menu dishes like breaded garlic mushrooms, cheesy garlic bread, and gammon with dippy eggs, served quickly by staff described as friendly and efficient. Desserts are huge. One reviewer found the Chocolate Fudge Cake warm and the Marz Attack chilled and tasty, while another found the sticky toffee pudding and chocolate cake dry, with too little custard. Quality draws the main criticism: one reviewer found carvery vegetables either overcooked or hard, and another called a Sunday roast tasteless with barely any meat, most items boiled rather than roasted, and a forgotten horseradish sauce. One suggests heading outside the Trafford Centre crowds for a carvery. Another finished a Monday meal deal with six scoops of ice cream in different flavours.

“Worst Sunday roast I ever had. There was barely any meat and meat was tasteless. On top of that majority of items were boiled not roasted which is ironic considering it supposed to be roast dinner. They also forgot my horseradish sauce.”

“Went on a Monday afternoon and couldn't fault a thing. We ordered via the app (ok, my wife did, she's got a better success rate with technology than me), and we went for the weekday meal deal. Breaded garlic mushrooms, lovely, cheesy garlic bread, OMG the best we've had for a long time. Gammon and egg (with doubled up gammon <cough>), lovely dippy eggs on top, small carvery, bottle of jam shed rosé, we were stuffed. But... There's always dessert to be tackled ! Six scoops, all different flavours, all lovely.”

“Lovely place and staff are nice. Food is reasonably priced, however quality needs to be better, I had the cavery, meet was cooked well, veg is either over cooked and seen better days or hard and undercooked. Desserts are huge and it's definitely quality over quality, I don't see how anyone can possibly eat one of the desserts in one sitting. We had sticky toffee pudding which was the size of a baby's head and was dry, it needed the Custard to stop one from chocking on its dryness, however, the amount of Custard provided for the size of the desserts is more of a baby portion size. We also had a slice of chocolate cake, which was big enough for 3 of us to eat and we still didn't finish it. Once again, quite dry All in all, we would go here again as its reasonably price and ok food, I just wish they would focus on quality, rather than quantity.”

“Fantastic! There were 4 of us who'd come for a meal out after a long day, including my autistic partner, and we had a wonderful time! The carvery itself has a great layout, plenty of space and the staff were considerate and positive at every step. We had Grace serving our drinks and she was helpful, quick and light hearted, making it a pleasant time! Quick tip: if you're visiting the Trafford centre during a busy period and don't want the crowds whilst you're eating. Just head outside and get a carvery!”
