Quick info
About Cafe Bar Eight 46
Quiz nights and karaoke evenings, led by a compere who sings and gets everyone involved, give Cafe Bar Eight 46 a run of entertainment nights at its bar on Chester Road in South Manchester, out of town and away from the city centre. The draught range takes in lagers and beers including pilsners and others from around Europe, alongside a large selection of spirits and wine sold by the glass or by the bottle. Breakfasts and lunches are served during the day, and food is available on match days, when the bar fills with a crowd heading to watch Manchester United at Old Trafford a few hours before kick-off. Seating and tables fill the inside, with an outside area for those who prefer to drink outdoors, and a step-free entrance keeps the bar reachable for visitors with mobility needs. Dogs are welcome. Booking ahead is advised. A small team runs the place.

Customer Review Summary
The draught beer selection anchors most accounts, with regulars singling out the range of pilsners and European lagers alongside a wide spread of spirits, and several note wine is now poured by the glass or sold by the bottle. Close behind is the welcome from the couple who run it and their staff, described as friendly and polite, with matchday regulars saying they end up on first name terms. Many treat it as a fixed part of the pre kickoff routine before Old Trafford, staying a couple of hours and rating it better value than the huts nearer the ground or city centre bars. Food draws steady praise too: one visitor recommends the breakfasts after a small breakfast that kept them full past lunch, calling the meat good quality and free of grease, while others mention reasonably priced matchday food. Karaoke nights come up as well, with the compere credited for getting everyone involved.

“I've been coming here for the last couple of years with family/friends when we watch Man Utd. We are always here a few hours before KO and it is a popular place. The staff are really friendly and make you feel welcome. At time goes on you're on first name terms which just adds to the general welcoming vibe. The selection of beer/spirits is wide ranging and the prices are decent, I've never paid more than £4.50 a pint. The food available on match days is reasonably priced as well, deffo cheaper than some of the stands/huts on the way to Old Trafford. Coming here is part of the match day routine and it won't change anytime soon! I'm back in September and I'm sure the guys can't wait to see me! Hahaha UTD UTD UTD!”

“Been coming here for the last 18 months or so everytime we go up to watch United. In here for a couple of hours or so before kick-off and never been anywhere else since we came here the first time. Staff are superb, so friendly and they get to know your face and look after you. Have to say the range of lagers and beers is superb! I love all the different pilsners and other beers on draught from all over Europe. Massive range of spirits too! Very reasonably priced. Good for food too. It does vary depending on the day but again very decently priced. Seems like it just attracts decent folk too, got familiar with some folk on matchdays now so it's great for a pre game chat. Again, the chap and his wife who run it and the young lass are so nice, big part of why we always come here. See you next weekend for the Reading game!”
