Quick info
About The Bishop Blaize
Close to Old Trafford, The Bishop Blaize is a pub in Manchester at 708 Chester Rd, with Manchester United memorabilia inside. The room has both high and low seating, and it gets very busy on match days because of the stadium nearby. Guests sit themselves, order at the bar, and have the food brought to the table. Breakfast sets come with refillable tea and Lavazza coffee. Later in the day the menu runs to gourmet burgers, freshly made pizzas, and fish and chips. Drinks cover real ales, craft beers and jugs of cocktails. Road parking nearby is limited to 60 minutes, and a Tesco sits across the road.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the pub's closeness to Old Trafford and its football atmosphere, with Man United memorabilia, screens and singing on match days. Food gets steady approval, with pizza, fish and chips, scampi and chips, a spice bag and a curry all named, plus a salted caramel dessert one diner singled out. Breakfast sets with refillable drinks draw praise as decent food at low cost, and several call the meals affordable. Drinks mentioned include cask ales, Guinness, cans of Stella and jugs of cocktails. Staff are described as friendly, polite and quick to clear tables. The main caveats are crowding, with several saying match days are very busy, and one diner who found the curry and spice bag not served as hot as they would have liked. One reviewer adds that road parking is limited to a short stay. One first-time team member was praised for making a table feel welcome.

“just wanted to leave a review for James after what he said was his first shift at Wetherspoons. Honestly, if he hadn’t mentioned it, I never would have guessed! He was incredibly friendly, polite, and made us feel really welcome from the moment we arrived. He was attentive without being overbearing, had a great attitude, and made sure everything was spot on with our food and drinks. It’s always nice to see someone who genuinely seems to care about giving good customer service, especially on their very first day. James is a real credit to the team, and if this is the standard he’s setting already, he’s going to do really well. Thanks for making our visit such an enjoyable one—we’ll definitely be back!just wanted to leave a review for James after what he said was his first shift at Wetherspoons. “I had an incident where I was getting followed by 2 men I instantly ran inside and told the staff, they were so amazing in keeping me safe and calm as I was so upset and scared. They kept me close to the bar and checked up on me loads. Whoever was working the close tonight was absolutely amazing all the staff and managers were a god send and I’m so grateful places like this exist and can keep women safe. Thank you so much to all the staff I love you all ❤️❤️❤️”

“Value for money is the first thing that comes to my mind. This is the most affordable meal I had in Manchester. Breakfast sets with refillable drinks came at only £3+. I was so enticed that I ordered both a muffin set and a small breakfast sets. Both were good - not the over the moon type of good, but decent food at incredible prices. Will definitely visit again whenever I am in town.”

“Up there as one of the best Wetherspoons. Parking not the best as road parking is only for 60 minutes, but if you incorporate it with shopping, there is a Tesco across the road. Don't go on match day though as its very busy then due to its proximity to Old Trafford. Good l, friendly atmosphere to have a relaxing meal.”
