About The Elizabethan
The Elizabethan is a pub in Stockport on Heaton Moor Rd, set in a building dating from 1874 that began as a private residence called Bampton House. It later served as a private members club before becoming the pub it is today. The seasonal menu pairs pub classics with roast dinners, including a lamb shank roast and a ham roast, and a sharer puts a roast dinner for two on one large plate. The bar pours a selection of beers, among them a Manchester craft beer. Servers take drink and food orders at the table. Groups can book large tables, and an area is reserved for the party.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roasts draw the most mentions, especially the lamb shank, which one diner describes as falling from the bone alongside a huge homemade Yorkshire pudding, and a Sunday sharer for two that reviewers found more than enough. Close behind is the service, with diners repeatedly praising the friendly, attentive staff, including one server who found a table near the open doors and suggested a local beer. Other dishes singled out include the sardines and capers starter, the Nourish bowl with king prawns, and a cheese and onion pie. Large groups and celebrations feature often, from a Christmas work meal and a baby shower in the semi private space to a 95th birthday, and reviewers say these were well organised, with food that catered for allergies and intolerances, including gluten free and dairy free sweet options. The caveats are small. One party noted that the extra cost for a roasted lamb shank was not worthwhile, and the pudding sharing platter was a little small. In a party of 25, those who ordered starters meant a wait for main courses, though the food then arrived hot and plentiful.

“We had the Sunday sharer which was a Sunday dinner for two on a large plate. It was more than enough for us both. The service is good, very attentive. The pub is beautiful with a great atmosphere. There’s also a large outdoor seating area at the front of the pub. I highly recommend coming here either for a cheeky drink or two, for food or both 😊”

With stunning foliage and unique and quirky décor you’ll definitely be taking pictures to remember your visit. Built in 1874, The Elizabethan started life as Bampton House, a private residence. In the early 1900s it was established as a private members club (under the same name) and it wasn’t until the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977 Our seasonal menus feature fantastic dishes and pub classics, perfect for relaxing in our stunning bar & restaurant with family and friends.”
