About The Society Rooms
The Society Rooms is a pub in Maidstone on Brenchley House that gives free refills on tea and Lavazza coffee all day, every day. It opens daily, and breakfast runs through the morning with a traditional plate of hash brown and bacon, plus bacon sandwiches late in the morning. Lunch and dinner bring gourmet burgers, freshly made pizzas and a jacket potato, with deli deal and vegetarian choices alongside. The bar pours real ales, craft beers and gins, as well as soft drinks. Everything sits on one ground floor, and numerous glass panels run through the interior. Customers can order table service through the Wetherspoon app, and tap water is self-serve from a tap at the bar.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the plain daytime food, with a weekday bacon sandwich and a jacket potato lunch singled out, and one diner calls the two burgers they ordered perfect. The room gets credit for being light and airy with plenty of seats, though one visitor found it soulless and bland and another said a Merlot had a funny taste. The complaints carry real weight. One reviewer describes the double American cheese burger as tasting like old candle wax, after finding hardened ketchup on the table. Another says a bar worker snapped at a request for tap water, refused to give his name, and was described by an earlier reviewer as racist. One reviewer reports a bump on the forehead after a waiter accidentally hit them with a plate. A regular noted a long bar wait with the pub understaffed, and a traditional breakfast with one hash brown and one slice of bacon. Several reviewers still credit the manager, one for welcoming customers and helping collect empties, another for keeping a forgotten gift bag safe in the office.

“I still haven’t figured out whether this place is good or not, considering I left with a bump on my forehead after the waiter accidentally hit me with a plate , And now I’ve had this bump on my forehead for 4 days already — the incident happened on 10.05.26.”

“I just wanted to say a massive thank you, today I left behind a gift bag - I bought this gift from a jewellery shop earlier. I only realised what I had done when I got home a couple of hours later. I called the pub with a heavy heart absolutely not expecting anything good!!! Only to be told by Steve the manager that my bag was safe and in the office - I'm not going to deny but I was blown away and faith restored! So good to experience goodness and kindness. Thank you so much x ps, great jacket potato lunch too!!!”
