About The Potting Shed

The Potting Shed is a gastropub on Horseshoes Lane in Maidstone, running as an all-day spot with breakfast, lunch and an evening kitchen. The cooking moves from a Sunday roast menu to afternoon tea service, with table service across the room. The back garden is a south-facing sun trap, and three private dining shacks sit alongside it for large groups. Dogs are welcome, with a "doggy deli" bowl on hand for them. On-site parking serves visitors by car, and bookings are taken for the group rooms.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out one server, described repeatedly as friendly, with the rest of the team called helpful. Food praise covers an excellent buffet for a large family group and a very good afternoon tea, and the garden is called a sun trap. One diner found the Sunday roast chicken extremely dry, with rationed gravy. A doggy deli bowl went down a treat.

Looking forward to going again, great place for families, garden is a sun trap all the staff professional and helpful. Very clean and professionally run establishment.”

“Sunday Roast chicken came out within 30 seconds. (£23) Extremely dry. Clearly been sitting out for quite some time with a small splash of rationed gravy and no condiments other than ketchup and mayo. Drinks and service was fine. Pizza also looked great but not ordered by myself.”

  • June Watson
“We had a family gathering today and hired the three shacks which worked perfectly for our group of 21 people. We are very grateful to Andreea’s organisational expertise and her and all her team for providing us with excellent service. All the staff were very courteous and very helpful. The buffet was excellent so hats off to the chef/s. Well worth the cost per head and the food was delicious. All our family and friends had a good time so thank you all so much”
  • Becky Trickett
“We had a wonderful meal yesterday with exceptional service from Erin. No request was too much and she had a wonderful friendly manner. The food was excellent and came out in good time. The rest of the team were helpful and lovely too!”
