About Mandala Café Bethnal Green

On Globe Rd in Bethnal Green, Mandala Café runs as a not-for-profit vegan restaurant, with proceeds going back into the operation rather than a private business. The menu draws on 15 dishes, including the Full Mandala Brunch, avocado on sourdough, and Coconut & Lime Moong Dal, alongside a Soup Of The Week and a Superfood Salad. Recurring plates like the tofu kimchi roll and masala beans and mushrooms appear alongside bagels and brownies, and lattes are served at the counter. It operates on a walk-in basis with no reservations. Sandwiches tend to sell out by 1pm, so the counter's stock shifts through the day. In summer, seating extends into the garden.

Featured reviews

  • Gerard Moore
“The staff were friendly and I like the ethos of the place being run as a not-for-profit and providing vegan food. I found the portions a bit lacking though for the price paid. The masala beans and mushrooms were delicious, but the breakfast could have been bulked out with more vegan carbohydrates eg chips or hash browns.”
  • Honest travels
“Sandwiches run out by 1pm and I can see why. Had a bagel and it was so yummy. The staff are friendly but not overbearing. It’s a welcoming space that doesn’t feel “London hipstery” but just chill and authentic”
  • Austin Morrissey
“Cute little vegan shop, delicious food — fresh tomatoes, good lattes. If you want joy, sit facing the window and read the lowest reviews of the cafe.”
  • mr.simon.templar
“Mandala cafe is one of those magical places where everything fits perfectly. A fantastic group of people run the cafe, great vibe, and even better food. Bravo! …”
  • Svjetlana Dajic
“This is my local cafe and I absolutely love it. I took many of my friends here and recommended to many more. The vibe of the place is so peaceful and welcoming. In the summer you can sit in the garden and enjoy the flowers and sunshine. The food is always so tasty and the staff is very friendly. I would recommend tofu kimchi roll (my favorite) and brownie is to die for.”
