Customer Review Summary
Tom yum soup is the dish reviewers raise most, in king prawn and chicken versions, and one family singled out the chicken tom yum and the chicken skewers as the best of their meal. Close behind are the chow mein, pad thai and katsu curry, with salt and pepper prawn, prawn toast and a prawn puff pastry also praised. Reviewers repeatedly describe generous portions and friendly, quick service, and one adds that the restaurant is small but clean and serves Salaam cola. The criticism is specific. One reviewer found the food bland, naming the salt-chilli starter, pad thai and katsu curry, and felt staff were rushing. Others say some noodle dishes need better seasoning, that the curry on the chicken skewer had a strange taste, and that the interior, seating and cleanliness could improve. One reviewer mentions staff struggling with English, and another suggests booking in advance. The harshest account describes staff refusing to honour a student discount because payment had already been taken.

“Cheap and cheerful Chinese place, good portions and fast service. Done well and is what you expected. Some of the noodle dishes need to be seasoned better but decent meal altogether”

“Decided to give Dragon’s Den Oriental Kitchen a try and was pleasantly surprised. The food was tasty, portions were very generous, and the value for money was excellent. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was fresh, hot and full of flavour. My only criticisms would be that the interior and seating could do with some improvement, and the restaurant could be a bit cleaner. Some staff also appeared to struggle with English, which made communication difficult at times, and it would be helpful to have a waiter more visible on the floor. Overall, great food, large portions and excellent value for money. I’d happily return.”

“Me and my friend went to try this place out after seeing many positive reviews about it. Portion sizes were good and we really really liked the prawn puff pastry. The only thing i didnt like as much was the curry on the chicken skewer, had some weird taste to it and the fizzy lemonade drink, other than that everything else was good”

“Went there with very high hopes but truly disappointed with the service, timing on the food and most importantly the food itself were tasteless. It was all bland with no real taste. The only positive comment I have is about the generous portion, but if the food doesn't taste good then it doesn't really matter. Also they asked for money upfront which was ok I suppose. A minute or so after payment, I realised I could have used a student discount, but they refused to honour this because they already took the payment. They could have done so but decided not to, which isn't right. We ordered salt-chilli starter which wasn’t tasty at all. Tom yum soup was ok but no comparison to authentic Thai cuisine! Main dishes like Dragon's Den special meal, Pad Thai and Katsu Curry, all of which wasn’t up to scratch and not much taste to enjoy. Felt like staff were rushing for some reason. Not going back again. A total waste.”
