About Ham Yard Restaurant & Bar
Ham Yard Restaurant & Bar is a modern European restaurant in London, set inside the Ham Yard Hotel at 1 Ham Yard, behind Piccadilly Circus. The hotel's courtyard has oak trees and twinkling lights, and an Orangery serves afternoon tea with sandwiches, a warmed sausage roll and miniature cakes. The tea pots are refilled with other teas on request. The main menu pairs classics such as Dry aged ribeye with seasonal plates like Crown Prince pumpkin agnolini. Breakfast brings eggs Florentine, brunch comes with live music, and a long lunch adds a dessert cart. The bar on the hotel's ground floor mixes cocktails and pours bottled beer, with no beer or ale on tap. The wine list leans toward independent and organic producers. You do not need to be a hotel guest to dine here. A private dining room is available for groups.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the afternoon tea in the Orangery, describing well-filled classic sandwiches, a warmed sausage roll and miniature cakes that look almost too pretty to eat, with tea pots refilled with a different tea on request. Close behind are the Sunday brunch and Long Lunch, where diners praise the French toast, eggs Florentine, a decadent tiramisu and a dessert cart, along with live music and generous portions. Several call the value fair compared with other London hotels. The courtyard seating and a Kir Royale outside also draw mentions, and one reviewer finds the bar cocktails good but the bar snacks only ok. The one detailed complaint describes slow service: a bottled beer that took ten minutes, a starter delivered after being declined, a refused request for a heater, and a bottle of wine added to the bill that the reviewer says they never ordered. That reviewer also calls the food overpriced and notes the discretionary service charge can be removed on request. Other guests describe a staff member remembering to ask about their experience hours later.

“I really enjoyed my visit to Ham Yard Restaurant & Bar. It offers an appealing combination of good food, friendly service and a setting with genuine character. The location in Soho is excellent, while the courtyard gives the place a distinctive feel. The interior was one of the highlights for me. Full of artwork and interesting decorative touches, it feels thoughtfully designed without being overly formal. There is plenty to catch the eye, but it remains a comfortable and welcoming place to sit and enjoy a meal. The food was another strong point. I thoroughly enjoyed the cooking, and the modern British and European menu suits the restaurant well. The meal was full of flavour and made the visit worthwhile in its own right. It is always pleasing when a restaurant’s food makes just as much of an impression as its surroundings. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive, contributing to a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Their approach struck a good balance between professionalism and warmth, which is something I particularly appreciate when dining out. What stood out overall was how well the different elements came together. The restaurant has an individual style, but the atmosphere never feels as though it is trying too hard. It is simply an enjoyable place to spend time over good food. I would happily return to Ham Yard and recommend it to anyone looking for an appealing restaurant in central London, particularly those who appreciate interesting interiors alongside good cooking and welcoming service.”

“Lovely, swanky bar in the ground floor of the hotel. Cocktails are good. While they don't have any beer or ale on tap, they have some decent bottles. Food (ie bar snacks) are ok.”

“Easily has become one of my favourite brunch spots. Came on a Sunday for the Long Lunch and every course was so delicious. Worth it all for the dessert cart alone. The ambiance is gorgeous being set inside the Ham Yard Hotel. You do not have to be a guest at the hotel to dine here.”

“Review of the Afternoon Tea at Ham Yard Hotel: (Overall, the afternoon tea was delicious, elevated by small details and a very fair price compared with other offerings in London.) Received a lovely, kind welcome upon arrival at the hotel, and taken personally to our table. For the food, the classic sandwiches were really well filled, and the sausage roll was warmed up, very small detail but really matters for a special occasion. The miniature cakes were exquisitely prepared and almost look too pretty to eat! The seating was very comfortable and the Orangery room was calm and quiet (perhaps too quiet, but it was a quiet day I suppose!). The staff members were very polite and explained the food items to us, also re-filling up our tea pots with another type of tea we wanted to try. As it was a birthday occasion it was lovely to receive a little birthday treat with a candle. All facilities including the bathroom are also immaculate. I would thoroughly recommend it.”
