About Rasa Sayang Restaurant
Rasa Sayang Restaurant is a Malaysian restaurant in London, on Macclesfield St, where halal dishes are cooked in a wok, Chinese-style. The menu leans spicy, and the setting is traditional and plain, so the cooking carries the visit. Nasi Lemak arrives with chicken curry, sambal and pickles. Roti canai comes with curry sauce for dipping. The kitchen also prepares Kangkong Belacan, a stir-fry of morning glory. Halal diners can order across a full Malaysian menu rather than a short selection.

Customer Review Summary
Nasi lemak is the dish diners raise most, with fragrant coconut rice, creamy chicken curry and sambal that one reviewer calls a serious punch. Roti canai and beef rendang come close behind, the rendang tender with a strong coconut flavour and the roti freshly cooked. Char kway teow, satay with peanut sauce and a lychee cocktail also earn praise, and several describe the staff as warm and friendly. Noodles draw mixed reactions. Mee goreng is called perfectly cooked but short on spicy punch, and one diner found the laksa very sweet, with overpowering coconut milk, needing extra sambal. Others name the gado-gado as the weakest dish, the popcorn chicken as light on meat and flavour, and the Hainanese chicken breast as a bit dry. One reviewer says staff sometimes rush things, and one finds the decor old. One suggests booking ahead for late afternoon. One table had so much leftover curry sauce that they ordered roti canai just to scoop it up.

“Me and my friends recently dined at Rasa Sayang, it was an absolute treat for the senses. We ordered the Mee Goreng (fried noodles), which was perfectly cook with a delicious smoky flavour. The Nasi Lemak was a standout—fragrant coconut rice paired with sambal, tender, spicy curry chicken. The portion of the Beef Rendang was small but equally impressive; the beef was fall-apart tender, simmered in a rich, creamy coconut-based stew that was aromatic and mildly spiced. My friends tried the Kangkong Belacan (Morning Glory stir-fried with chili sauce) for the first time, it was a highlight—fresh, crunchy and tossed in a fiery, savory sauce that kept them going back for more. The satay selection was phenomenal. We tried prawn satay, chicken satay and chicken wings! Each was grilled to perfection, with that beautiful charred caramelization. The peanut dipping sauce was thick, nutty and had just the right kick of heat. But what truly elevated the experience was our waitress, Tammy. She was incredibly warm and attentive, serving us with such genuine care that make us felt like we were looking after by a friend. If you're craving bold, authentic Malaysian flavours, Rasa Sayang is the place to be.”

“Trying out another one beside Singapulah, I heard they are sister’s restaurant. I choose this restaurant because they have sambal kangkong and roti while the Singapulah doesn’t have it. Their chili crab is spicy and love it ! Everything is perfect ! Just the restaurants decorate look rather old which I would prefer Singapulah (of course it is new!)”

“I had such a wonderful experience at Rasa Sayang on Macclesfield Street. I ordered the Raffles Singapore Laksa Soup Noodle and the Hainanese Chicken Rice, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The laksa was rich, creamy, and full of authentic flavour, while the Hainanese chicken rice was perfectly cooked, tender, and incredibly tasty. Every bite was so yummy. What made the experience even better was the amazing staff. They were all so nice, friendly, and genuinely sweet, making us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Their warm hospitality really stood out and made the meal even more enjoyable. Another great bonus is that they offer a student discount, which is fantastic for students looking to enjoy authentic Singaporean and Malaysian food at a great value. I highly recommend Rasa Sayang to anyone looking for delicious food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back!”

“Rasa Sayang is a very fun option in Chinatown, especially if you’re a foodie! We had a reservation on a Sunday evening, but either way, they had plenty of seating. The lychee cocktail was absolutely delicious, it’s not too strong and the lychee flavor shines very well! We also loved the roti and chicken dish, but beware that it’s a bit messy since the curry is served in a small bowl. The only thing that we didn’t enjoy as much was the popcorn chicken appetizer, which didn’t have much meat and flavoring. Overall, check it out for a diverse menu and great cocktails!”

“We visited the restaurant at 3pm with a reservation. The restaurant was busy during late afternoon so please book a table in advance. We asked for recommendations and we ordered a Nasi Lemak, Mee Goreng, Hainanese chicken, beef rendang and fried Mantou for three people. All food are freshly made. My personal favourite is the beef rendang. The coconut flavour is strong, the sauce is sweet and the beef is tender and not as fatty. The Hainanese chicken is great 7/10. The breast part is a bit dry but overall it’s pretty good. Nasi Lemak has a perfect sambal and pickles on the side with chicken curry. Please give it a go! The Mee Goreng is ok - it tastes like how it is described on the menu. I wouldn’t recommend it as I think there’s better options on the menu! Probably the dishes are preset to be non-spicy and we forgot to ask for additional spices. Hopefully the waiter can ask if the customers would like the dish to be spicy or not!”
