  “For starters we ordered a few different things to pick at. First off the hand cut chips! To absolutely die for... however everything else was sooo good that the chips were hardly touched. The salad was fresher than fresh! The scotch egg was full of flavour and the egg was cooked to complete perfection 👌 lovely place, great atmosphere and the staff were so friendly. There is both out door and I door seating. And also a larger space out back.”

  “Fantastic food. Best tuna niscoise salad I've had for a very long time. Super fresh. Sunday roast went down very well too. Certainly not as expensive as it could be.”

  “Food was good but I would recommend to avoid on a busy day. We booked a table but it wasn’t ready, the staff was unhelpful, the roast dinner was served with drinks in single use plastic cups (so unsustainable) and the toilets were incredibly dirty and there was no toilet roll. Yet the worst thing was a table outside with a two year old next to a smoking table. Really expensive for the experience you get.”

  “This is our local and we love it! Staff always friendly and you can just about always get a table inside or outside. Would say the back indoors area lacks any kind of atmosphere and would avoid sitting in the back, but otherwise a great pub”

  “We went there for a Sunday roast on Mother’s Day , the staff was really caring and nice . Food very good and as usual Sunday roast is a very big portion . I had the chicken and it was good but unfortunately I don’t like that it was marinated in garlic , my husband had the pork I think if I remember correctly. The pub is close to Victoria park fantastic location if it’s sunny you can just go to the park after lunch”

  “I visited today for a Mother's Day roast, and my mum and I had a great time. Our Australian server was absolutely fantastic. She was super attentive but and brought so much joy to the table without being too overbearing. She was funny and quick witted and had my mum laughing throughout the whole time. It was clear that she genuinely cared about our experience, checking in on us regularly and ensuring we had everything we needed.”

  “I recently visited for supper and absolutely loved the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere of the pub. I chose the burger, which was genuinely delicious and beautifully cooked. The staff couldn’t have been better. The only, very minor, downside was the lack of cask ale options, but that’s purely personal, as I’m a sucker for a Sussex Best. Overall, it was a fantastic visit and I’ll definitely be returning once they sort out the lack of Ales!”

  “The Sunday Roast was amazing and great value for money. Particularly the meats were high quality. Such a nice London pub that could be improved by the service. I tried to make a reservation for 1:00 pm but was offered 12:00 instead which is no big deal. Although I really don’t know why the staff have to say “We need the table back by 1:30” , it’s very annoying and an unprofessional and unwelcoming attitude in the hospitality business. Particularly as the next “reservation” according to the sign was for 3:00 pm and not for 1:30 anyway. At the end of the meal we were well fed and couldn’t manage a dessert which I think would probably be pretty good considering the high standard of the mains. We asked for Irish coffee and were told that the pub doesn’t do hot drinks? A pub not doing hot drinks? All in all the service wasn’t great but the food was amazing.”

  “Really fancied a beef wellington yesterday and stubled across The Hemingway. Food overall was pretty good. Beef Wellington was cut into 2 big chunks rather than sliced up for presentation. Beef was of good quality and pastry was nice. Sides that come with it are enough, especially if you have starters like we did. Didn't need the mac and cheese but always a nice addition. Good pub lunch.”

  “Good ambience pub with variety of food option. Overall food presentation and taste are good especially love the scotch eggs, deep fried squid and the chicken liver pate. The dirty hot wings a bit over cooked so missing the chewy texture of meat. The wellington beef was beautifully cooked/ presented, only drawback is the pastry seems a bit too dry and not enough puffy . Staff are friendly and service is good. We went there on Sunday around 12pm. People come thereafter and was very crowded when we leave around 2pm. Advance booking on weekend suggested. They offer also Sunday roast which looks very attractive. Relax environment good for hang out with friends !”
