  “Purchased ticket for "Robert Altman's 'Short Cuts'" for July 18th, 2026. The event was cancelled with no communication, apparently "double booked", only found out about the cancellation after coming to the venue, and there was still no refund after a week. Horrendous and unprofessional!”

  “Visited to try the sandwiches and the pub was absolutely dead and it still took 12 mins of me standing at the bar to be served the guys seemed more interested in discussing which charity shops to buy skirts than serving. Pub is absolutely filthy and full of black mould. Ordered two very over priced drinks took 10 mins to pour and don’t accept most major card providers. Sandwich was crap lacked filling and they didn’t follow my allergen instructions.”

  “They should call this place the bookerston. Terrorised from beginning to end in here. Absoloute stress from just having basic sustenance. Security literally took the seat from under me and kept screaming at me for being in the smoking area. Don’t go here if you have any form of ptsd triggering boots.”

  “Great place for a late night drink and low key boogie (not really the right word but hey). Beware, however - closing policy is super aggressive and completely out of keeping with otherwise mellow vibes. They told us 1AM but their hyper aggressive security dudes rudely hustled us out at 12.45 despite having spent literally £150 at their bar. I call that rude. Not to mention deeply uncool. You can’t be a Jamaican-styled spot and then act all West End. Check yourselves, my friends, I will think twice before coming your way again.”

  “Nice pub let down by extremely disinterested and rude staff. The female bar member who served me didn’t acknowledge me and poured an £8 pint that’s shown below. It was not busy, and even when it got busier the staff would talk among themselves and ignore customers.”

  “The Haggerston is an excellent pub. It's got the shabbily charming atmosphere of a friendly squat party. Feels like there's not enough pubs with the kind of genuine loveliness that is to be found here. The beer selection is solid. The have bands and cute events like craft nights. Bloody great basically.”

  “Was sunny so I sat outside to relax after the Ronch exhibition. Looks nice inside, I haven't spent enough time to comment. The beer was crisp and tasty. The pub had a table with quirky recent event fliers, I took camden pop up fashion show that was on that day only.”

  “🚇 Haggerston 🍺 £6.20 Paulaner The Haggerston sits on the border between Dalston and Haggerston in Hackney, East London. The nearest station is Haggerston. This pub dates back to 1802 and was originally called The Swan. It was rebuilt in the mid-nineteenth century, and the plinth at the top of the building still bears its former name. Over the years it has operated under several names, including ‘Richmonds’ and ‘Uncle Sam’s’, before becoming The Haggerston in 2008. This is a one-bar pub with rustic, traditional charm. The servery is to the right with a marble-topped counter. In the right corner sits the old Joanna; to the left, a DJ booth; and opposite are intimate pew-style booths. The decor includes a boarded floor, exposed brick walls, and an eclectic mix of photos, signs, and mirrors. Upstairs is a function room, traditionally decorated and complete with its own bar. A standout feature for me was a superb black-and-white photo of the brothers who ran the pub for many years. At the rear is a partially covered beer garden, with more outdoor seating at the front. The beer selection is excellent, offering premium lagers, local independent brews, and one cask ale from @fivepointsbrew .I went for a Paulaner, a personal favourite—top pint, average price. No food is served, but there are plenty of bar snacks if you’re peckish. I arrived at 2pm on a mild Saturday in November. The pub was quiet, chilled, and set to a superb soul and jazz soundtrack. Service was first class; the team were friendly and personable. I even received a guided tour from the Guv’nor, who has been here for ten years and is an absolute gent. This pub really comes alive at night, with live piano on Wednesdays and Thursdays and DJ sets on Fridays and Saturdays. A true institution here is The Alan Weekes Jazz Quintet, which has performed every Sunday for over 25 years. A fiercely independent pub and a joy to visit. The beer is well chosen, the setting intimate, and the team here are some of the best in the business. I left this boozer with a big smile. I 100% recommend you visit.
