About Royal Inn on the Park
Royal Inn on the Park is a pub in London, set inside Victoria Park at 111 Lauriston Rd. Heaters cover the patio in winter, and dogs are welcome, so plenty of visitors bring their own. The kitchen cooks roast dinners and a chicken schnitzel. Orders go through the bar, where guests queue and there is no table service, and the line can grow when the pub is busy. A weekly quiz night runs here, and the pub also hosts wedding gatherings and receptions.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is what praise gathers around most, with reviewers describing it as cooked perfectly with generous portions, friendly service and great value. The chicken schnitzel has its own fans too, two diners calling it proper wholesome food they have talked about since. The park setting also earns mentions, including outdoor seating with plenty of heaters in January, a welcome for dogs and children, and a lovely atmosphere with character at a patio wedding reception. The complaints are substantial, though. A few note a queue at the bar with no table service in the restaurant, and one who loved the roast says to come early or be prepared to queue. Others report disorganisation: table menus that did not match what the bar offered, and a limited menu after a wedding the night before, which sent one party away without eating. One reviewer describes a burnt burger taken away and refunded by card machine with no apology. Another found the breadcrumb-coated chicken so hard it knocked against the plate, and the pub answered with a complimentary drink each.

“Really rude staff. Bartender had taken my order and disappeared for a bit. It was busy so another bartender had asked what my order was so i told them. When she returned she then started filling out my order and realised another bartender was also doing it and shamed me in front of all other customers as well as both bartenders staring at me in genuine disgust. It was an honest mistake and the lack of communication their side too (i was not asked if i was being served / where the other has gone to) - regardless, there was no need to be rude and try to embarrass a customer. The order was just 2 pints of Guinness, which was quickly taken up by other customers- nothing was wasted nor real inconvenience caused. It was more inconvenient to take the time to be condescending”

“Very disappointing experience at Royal Inn on the Park. We had a table booked for 12:00pm, but when we arrived we were told we couldn't sit in the main restaurant because they were still rearranging the tables and chairs after a wedding the previous night. While these things can happen, it's something that should have been sorted before opening or at least communicated to customers with reservations. We were then informed that the kitchen wouldn't open until 1:00pm. As none of us had eaten breakfast, we decided to wait and asked for a food menu. We were told they didn't have any available but that some would be printed. After waiting until 1:00pm, we asked again and were told, once more, that they would print them and it would only take a few minutes. When we finally received the menus, we discovered they were only offering a very limited menu consisting of a handful of unusual dishes and just four sandwiches. There weren't even simple options like chips available. Unfortunately, nothing appealed to us, so after waiting for an hour while already very hungry, we had no choice but to leave without eating. The biggest disappointment was the lack of communication and organisation. Had we been told in advance that the restaurant wasn't fully operational and only a limited menu would be available, we could have made other plans instead of wasting an hour waiting. Overall, the service was virtually non-existent, communication was poor, and the whole experience was frustrating. Sadly, we won't be returning.”

“We visited Royal Inn on the Park after completing the Victoria Park Half Marathon, looking forward to a relaxed lunch in what is usually a much-loved local spot. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. We had a booking, after waiting and trying to get someone’s attention, we were told we could sit anywhere. There was also confusion around the menu. The menus on the table showed different items and prices to what was actually available at the bar, which we only discovered when ordering. It felt disorganised and misleading. Ordering itself was not a pleasant experience. A simple requests (removing coriander from nachos) was met with visible annoyance. The overall tone made us feel like we were asking for too much, when these are very basic requests. After a 45-minute wait, a £19 burger arrived burnt. When we raised it, there was no apology or acknowledgement. It was simply taken away, and shortly after someone came over with a card machine to process a refund, again without any apology or attempt to make things right. This was particularly frustrating as we had just finished a half marathon, and one of our group ended up leaving without eating after a long wait. This pub is a local favourite with such a great setting, which is why it’s genuinely disheartening to see this level of service. You expect better care in a place that so many people value. With some attention to customer experience and basic communication, this could have been a very different visit. Sadly, this experience fell well below expectations.”

“A great pub in viccy park. The food is actually really good - two of us had the chicken Shnitzel and have talked about it multiple times since. Proper wholesome food. We sat outside In Jan as many others were but it didnt feel overly cold as there are plenty of heaters. There were lots of people with dogs, we loved saying hi to them all. Was also child friendly! We will be going back for dinner and a quiz night in the future ☺️”
