About People's Park Tavern
People's Park Tavern is a pub in London at 360 Victoria Park Rd, with a large backyard garden opposite a park. The garden has its own screen, so big matches, including World Cup games, can be watched outside as well as on the screens around the venue. Indoors, the pub has a fireplace and sofas. The kitchen serves a burger with chips, and the bar pours beers and ciders on tap. Tables can be booked in advance. On match days the pub gets very crowded, with people standing and a long wait at the bar.

Customer Review Summary
Watching live sport, especially the World Cup, is what reviewers raise most, and the verdict is mostly negative. Several describe screens glitching through second halves, with one reporting a No Signal message and another a black screen, while one says the outdoor screen had no sound for the entire second half. Others report understaffed bar service and a very slow wait for a pint. Some describe oversold tables, with groups of ten seated at tables for four and a booked group placed at the back with a restricted view. A separate reviewer says a reserved table was still occupied by other customers on arrival. Away from big matches, reviewers praise the good vibes, the fireplace and sofas in winter, the garden opposite the park in summer, and friendly bar and floor staff. The burger is called decent but expensive, and one says it was charged above the menu price. Unfamiliar beers and ciders came in plastic cups on a football day. One reviewer sums up the World Cup setup as no signal during the anthems.

“I had booked two tables for a group of 13 people, and had arranged the booking in advance via email. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we waited around 20 minutes for one of our tables to become available. The table was intended to seat approximately six people. Our second table was still occupied by other customers. Although a member of staff asked them to leave, they remained at the table, and unfortunately there didn’t appear to be anyone available to follow up or check on the situation. I completely understand that it was a very busy environment and appreciate that staff cannot be everywhere at once. However, what was particularly disappointing was that the venue can request a £5 per person deposit (£65) when making a booking, yet despite having booked two tables for our group, we didn’t even have access to the tables we had reserved. It was extremely frustrating to have made the booking in advance, with the expectation that our tables would be available, only to arrive and be unable to use them. On a more positive note, all of the bar and floor staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, due to the issues with our booking, we didn’t get the opportunity to eat, although the food looked good. Overall, the experience was disappointing, particularly given that the booking had been arranged in advance and was for a special occasion. I would hope that bookings and reserved tables could be managed more effectively in the future, especially when customers are being asked to provide a deposit per person.”

“Wow what a spot for England at the football. All the staff were super nice. The host made sure our time there was best of the best. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for big sports events.”

“Do not come here for the World Cup!! We booked more than a month in advance, but got sat at a table all the way in the back with a very restricted view. Once we managed to swapped seats, there were people standing right in front of our table, and the staff said they couldn’t ask them to sit down because they might have had reservations - they sat groups of 10 on tables that would only fit 4. Other groups said the staff said they couldn’t help them as their shift had ended! They have oversold the venue making it a poor experience for all! And on top of this, there were connection issues meaning the TV kept cutting out then went black for 5 mins! It was so bad that we strongly considered leaving at half time. Would not come back.”

“Came here to watch the Australia vs USA World Cup game and it was a genuinely poor experience. The big screen was glitching throughout the match and even displayed a “No Signal” screen for around 10 minutes during the second half of a major sporting event. If you’re advertising yourself as somewhere to watch big games, that’s simply not good enough. The bar service was equally disappointing. Staff were incredibly slow and seemed completely unfazed by the huge crowds. It took me 35 minutes just to get a pint, partly because the staff were working at a very leisurely pace, but also because the pub was clearly understaffed for an event they knew would be busy. I usually wouldn’t leave a negative review, but if you’re thinking of coming here to watch a World Cup game, I’d strongly recommend going elsewhere. Great location, but the organisation and service were nowhere near the standard they should be for a major sports night.”

“It’s a nice place, good vibes, but I don’t recommend watching World Cup matches (or other sports) on the outside area. They decided to leave the outside screen with NO SOUND for the entire second half, and everyone got kicked out as soon as the game was finished. I heard it was a problem with neighbors but if this is the case, the place should NOT offer World Cup screenings.”
