Reservations are required. A private dining room is available for groups, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Fish dishes lead the praise, with sea bass, battered cod and chips, and a fish cake described as sensational. Close behind are a lamb called the star of the show, a rich soup, a meat and potato pie and popcorn shrimp. The wisteria at the entrance and the country setting also draw comment. Service is described as friendly, first class and excellent, and bar staff are singled out as polite and engaging. Complaints are fewer but specific. One Sunday lunch party was told only roast dinners were being served despite a wider online menu, and found them pricier than nearby places. Another diner discovered the cheese and onion pie was not vegetarian when the menu did not make that clear, though bar staff sorted out an alternative. The sharpest negative concerns the burger, whose brioche bun was so tough it could not be torn by hand. After it was sent back, a supervisor returned twice to explain the toughness was intentional, and a refund followed.

“The Bells of Peover has been a great destination over many years, though it is reasonable to say that it has had a slightly turbulent past couple years. Hence, it was great to visit in August 2026 and find the old place back to its magnificent best. We had great food - upper bracket pub food, well prepared and presented. The service was first class and very friendly. I really hope the news that the Bells is back and a great destination again travels fast and far!!”

“My wife had the meat and potato pie and I had the battered cod and chips, both meals were excellent. Very pleasant country setting, and old world rustic charm is how I would describe the Bells of Peover. Service was also excellent, we shall definitely return one day”

“On our journey back to Wirral from Derbyshire, we headed to The Bells of Peover for some food and drink. We were surprised to see that the beer garden was quite empty for a sunny day and at tea time too. Headed inside for a drink and some menus and we thought it was quiet in there too, served by a friendly and happy barman we took our menus out to the beer garden for perusal. We noticed that certain dishes were marked as ' gfa' that we took to mean ' gluten free available' but nothing was marked as 'V', a few dishes clearly were but a few had the potential of ambiguity. The cheese and onion pie with chips, roasted carrots and vegetable gravy was the one in question and it turned out that it WASN'T vegetarian. The bar staff cleared the matter up and an alternative was chosen. The food we had was of good quality, hot and served well presented and fairly quickly and all the staff we came into contact were engaging, friend8and happy. The only thing that let you down was the poorly labelled vegetarian dishes- everything else was good.”

“We went for lunch on a Sunday, it was a lovely sunny day and quite warm. The online menu had a reasonable choice, however when we sat down we were told that the only food being served were roast dinners. These were at least 20% more expensive than nearby places, so we were forced to chose a meal we didn't want and pay more for the privilege! I shoukd add that the service itself was fine and the servers did a great job..”

“I’m still thinking about the experience I had at The Belle of Peover 🤍 The food was simply divine… the kind that feels like a warm hug from the inside. Every detail, every flavour… just perfect. It was more than just a meal, it truly made my day lighter and happier. I left feeling so full, happy, and already looking forward to coming back. Thank you for such a special experience ✨”
