Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return to the carvery, which they call really great and outstanding, with desserts such as sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fudge cake close behind. Others single out the Cowboy Burger, a southern-fried chicken burger described as bigger and more filling, and a chicken and bacon house salad one diner raved about. Staff and managers are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and families mention a reading corner, cinema room, board games and an outdoor play area. Several describe small kindnesses, including coins given to children for the sweet machine and a cake brought out for a birthday. One party of 19 booked last minute and was given a private room. The main criticism comes from one detailed review of a pre-booked table that was sticky. The reviewer says steaks, mixed grills and fish and chips were unavailable because the grill had blown, and the burgers tasted frozen. A plain cheese burger arrived with everything on it, the replacement was not hot and was slightly pink inside, and drinks never came because a ticket was not printed. One visit ended with a free cake for a birthday.

“Have always wanted to try a nice meal here and took the opportunity to for my Nan’s birthday meal , menu looked good online and fairly priced and when we arrived we were shown to our table which was very sticky and in a dull area. When it was time to order food we picked what we wanted on the app and every time we went to check out lots of items were out of stock E.G mixed grills , all steaks and fish and chips and when we questioned this at the bar is all steaks unavailable they said that the grill had blown , which wasn’t made aware to us on arrival when we were shown to our table ( which was pre booked ) and if that was brought to our attention we would of found somewhere else to go. My wife wanted a cheese burger and there was no option to make it plain which just after we ordered the food and drinks I went out my way to ask for it to be plain ( no cheese , salad and sauce) which the woman said she will tell someone. The wait for food was about 30-40 minutes and the drinks still weren’t delivered to the table at that time which again I had to go up and ask where are the drinks to which I got told that someone didn’t print a ticket which isn’t a good enough excuse. The burgers didn’t taste amazing as they just tasted like frozen burgers you would get out the freezer section in Asda also my wife’s burger come with everything on it even though I made it very clear that I wanted the cheese burger plain which a new burger got made and that wasn’t hot at all with a slight pink in the middle , also the condiments were scattered all over the restaurant as there were no cutlery in the condiment station and no salt so we had to find it ourselves. All round service just was rubbish and not one thought about customers by the staff from upon entering to leaving to which will be my first and last visit unfortunately.”

“We've had many a nice meal at the weavers whistle. The Em and Em duo serving us and on the bar have been so accommodating and polite. I've had a lovely conversation with them both tonight. They are both stars. Will be making this a regular as the food is always lovely.”

“We booked last minute for a party of 19 on a soggy Sunday. They accommodated us without hesitation and had a private room all set up for our (early which they didn’t mind) arrival. The staff were so lovely and friendly, the service was organised and efferent and you can’t fault the food for the price. We had a lovely experience and would 100% return - thank you.”
