Customer Review Summary
Steak pie is the draw reviewers raise most, with one calling it the best they have had, praising juicy beef, a generous filling and pastry, and another saying even the small slice was epic. Close behind are the home cooked dishes: liver and mash with peas and gravy, a lasagne, loaded chips and homemade chips, plus a Yorkshire pudding filled with sausage and mash. Portions are described as large or generous, and the lunch menu and kids' menu are both called good value. Service draws consistent praise, including a young server who was lovely and helpful, and staff who explained a longer wait for food. Reviewers also mention that dogs are allowed in the tap room, where meals are served. The complaints are small but specific. One diner found the prawn salad disappointing, with dry prawns and a lackluster salad, and said recent visits have not matched earlier ones. Another found the peas cold. One reviewer on the lunch menu still got a generous portion of liver and onions.

“Pulled up on the bike for a quick lunch and got way more than I bargained for. Hands down the best steak pie I've ever had — and I don't say that lightly.Packed with juicy, melt-in-the-mouth beef, proper filling (no skimping here), and pastry that seals the deal. Went for the "small" slice — still epic, and every mouthful was a winner. One heck of a first bite in Yorkshire. I'll be back.”

“Had the most amazing meal at this atmospheric pub. Friendly attentive staff and superb food delivered hot and tasty. Took a bit longer than expected but was kept informed by the staff as to why and it was worth the wait. Highly recommend for a nice quiet meal or for a large booked event.”
