About The Saracens

The Saracens is a pub in Doncaster at 38-40 Cleveland St., with a big dance floor and a raised DJ stand that give the room its focus. A DJ plays there, including afternoon sets, so music is not limited to the late hours. Karaoke nights and bar games add other ways to spend a visit, whether a group wants to sing, play or dance. Inside, there is plenty of space and seating, so the dance floor sits alongside room to stay put with a drink. Drinks offers are available at the bar.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the afternoon and evening DJ, which sits alongside a lively dance floor and cheap drinks with various offers. Karaoke nights and bar games come up too, and one regular says the interior has changed but still keeps a good atmosphere. Bar staff are described as pleasant and friendly by several, and one physically impaired visitor says door staff helped them to a reserved table. The caveats are fairly even: two reviewers describe a rude woman behind the bar, one who rolled her eyes when asked for a glass of water, and another says bar service can be poor at times. One reviewer found the DJ talked and giggled over the music, though a later visit had hardly any chat. Others say the lager is not the best pint but fine for the price, and the upstairs toilets are a let-down. It is described as filling up quickly and emptying quickly, with a slightly older crowd that is not exclusively so, and one group's annual trip to Doncaster starts with an afternoon pint there.

“Really disappointed with my recent visit to the Saracens, I have been in a couple of times in the past and really enjoyed my experience but unfortunately I was left feeling disappointed. There's an older women there with grey hair who served me (didn't catch her name) and she couldn't have been less helpful, was extremely rude for no reason and made me feel uneasy which is a shame as the DJ that was on was fab and so was the atmosphere.”

“Poor customer service rude women behind the bar Asked for a glass of water and she rolled her eyes at me and my friends I commented to her how rude she was and she just walked away. Not a person who should be working in customer service sector”

“It’s okay in here, good for afternoon drinks as they have a DJ on and stuff. It’s cheap, so you get what you pay for, the beer/lager isn’t going to be the best pint you’ll have but for the price it’s okay. Slightly older clientele tend to drink in here but at the same time it’s not an old folks boozer exclusively!”
