About The Royal Oak
The Royal Oak is a Doncaster pub on Northgate that opens daily and welcomes dogs, so owners can bring them along for a meal or a drink. The kitchen serves food every day, and dishes are made to order. The menu includes steak pie and salt and pepper chicken, and a Sunday roast is served as well. The bar pours three real ales alongside a choice of other lagers and ciders.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the generous portions of pub food, with the Sunday lunch drawing the strongest praise and several calling the meals fresh, hot and homemade. Close behind are the salt and pepper chicken, the steak pie and the fish and chips, plus the "proper chips" one first-timer contrasts with fries elsewhere. A pudding and cocktail rounded off one anniversary meal. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, with one reviewer noting the chef came over to chat. Prices are called reasonable, and the place is described as buzzing on a Thursday night. Several suggest booking ahead, especially for groups, and one party of walk-ins still found a table despite the crowd. One diner notes a 10% service charge is added to the final bill and says they did not mind paying it. Dogs are mentioned as welcome in the small heated outdoor seating area, and a large group booking for Sunday lunch went through without any hitch.

“Called in for food, had not booked and was very busy but able to get a table. Food great as always, recognised Andy the chef and he came to speak to us. Told him how much we enjoyed the food. Can't wait to come back again. But would advise booking to ensure you get a table.”

“1st time I've been. Been told about it by family and friends and im so glad I've been. Food was well nice and got plenty aswell. And when it says proper chips they are. Not these crappie fries that you get at other places. Everyone was very friendly and I be making a point ov going back again. Well happy.”
