About The Shakespeare Inn
The Shakespeare Inn is a pub at 117 London Rd in Derby, with a large beer garden at the rear that holds a bouncy castle. Inside, a bar area sits at the front and a larger restaurant-type room runs along the back. The kitchen serves a Sunday roast with a choice of braised beef, slow roasted pork or a pan roast, and mashed potatoes and cauliflower cheese come as sides. Burgers, fish and chips and curry fill out the rest of the menu. Dogs are welcome, and live entertainment is planned for the evenings.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints are more pointed. One visit found the menu cut down to burgers, fish and chips and curry, with a longer list of unavailable items, a wine glass with a stained rim, and a missing bread and butter that staff only admitted had run out when the plates were collected, with no apology or refund. Another reviewer found the landlord sarcastic when asked about gluten free options, and a third balked at a small can of coke costing £3.75. One diner who left disappointed said the bar lacked atmosphere.

“Called in here to meet some bikers, bought a small can of coke to drink outside, £3.75. Come on guys, I know there is a cost of living crisis, but almost 4 quid for a can of coke, I could have got 4 litres of that from the shop, for less! Clearly profiteering whilst they can, because this bubble won't last forever, that and greed will ultimately cost them in the end. It's not that I can't afford to pay it, it's the principle of being robbed, that I can't accept. First and last time for me...”

“A really nice pub that wasn't too crowded on a Sunday afternoon. Live entertainment was planned for the evening, and a bouncy castle can be found in the huge beer garden to the rear. We had food - which was excellent and more good value for money. Service was great also. All in all, a good family boozer with acres of space inside and out”

“Me, my wife and our three littlns came in for a brekkie early Saturday morning, really happy to see they had clean baby changing facilities. When we came in all we wanted was a nice hearty breakfast and that we got and more. The staff are friendly as anything and the food proper hit the spot. Couldn't complain if I wanted to. Highly recommend to all.”

“We went to a private party here at the weekend. The staff were incredible, the two Sophies and the male behind the bar (sorry I didn’t catch your name) could not have done more for us. They were polite, attentive, cheerful and nothing was too much trouble for them. A huge thank you to you all, you were brilliant!!!”

“Food was really nice I had the Braised Beef roast dinner and the meat and the whole meal was perfect and my partner had the Pan roast dinner and she said it was very nice. Very friendly staff and would definitely go back.”
