About Dog & Duck
Dog & Duck is a pub in the village of Shardlow, near Derby, styled as a traditional pub restaurant. Its kitchen cooks pub food from a set menu, and burgers are among the dishes on that menu. The owners describe the pub as family-friendly, which puts households eating out together among the people it welcomes. The business presents itself as a restaurant as well as a pub, and it lists Shardlow as its street. Derby is the city given in its listing.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the burgers, described as juicy and tasty, with a mixed grill also praised, and food that arrives hot, with full plates and good portions. The 40% off mains deal comes up as making the meals very good value, and one reviewer in their late 70s and 80s liked the small lunch portions. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, with one server named by several reviewers for keeping drinks topped up and checking on each course. Families mention a chilled atmosphere where children could walk around, play pool and use the trim trail, and the beer garden gets a nod. The main complaints are a first visit with no Pedigree or other cask beers, though it was available and excellent on a return, and a pint of Guinness and a Cruzcampo that felt steep. One group using the app had desserts arrive before their starters and mains, and the waitress laughed along with them.

“It’s many years since I’ve been to Dog and Duck it was lovely too be back. A party of 5. We had the lunch menu 2 courses and as we are in our late 70’s/80’s the small portions were great. Staff were very good especially Nathan, he looked after us from when we entered to when we left. Thank you. (It was my husband’s 80th birthday lunch gift from a friend.).”

“The dog and duck is always amazing in all areas. Food is delicious cooked by Ash the chef and the portions are good, the service is good especially the server Ellie who was very kind and helpful. The pub itself is also a lovely building. Also convenient if you have to use the bus as there is 2 Skylink bus stops right next to the pub.”

“Where to start we visited the Dog and Duck on Friday the 10th of July and we were greeted by a lovely lady called Ellie very helpful in every way, we found a table and then waited for our friends to arrive. We ordered our food and was served by Sarah who again was very helpful and very polite. The food arrived and we have to say everything was perfect and we sent our compliments to the chef Ash. The kitchen staff normally doesn’t get a shout out but today they have and well deserved. Would we return a big yes food good, service excellent. Keep it up guys see you soon. Dave, Julie, Simon and Jane”

“Have been for a meal today ordered the burgers from the set menu they were lovely. Our server was a young lady called Scarlett she was bubbly and upbeat throughout the evening. There was also a young man behind the bar called Tom he was very open and chatty. Over all the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting and we will be returning. They also have 40% off your main meal at the moment as well.”

“My friends and I thought we’d try somewhere new for our catch up over some food. Our waitress Ellie was very welcoming and friendly. She ensured our drinks were topped up and if we were enjoying our food at each course. We’ll definitely be coming again and hope to have another great experience as we did this time.”
