  “We visited on Sunday, I had the roast and was really disappointed. I have had a roast there before and it was great so maybe just a bad day. Potatoes were not crispy, and were quite black/burnt (but edible) and the gravy was very watery. We weren't given any utensils, had to go looking for our own. All in all it was an OK experience, but I will probably go elsewhere for a Sunday roast in future. The staff didn't seem very happy either, but witnessing how they were being spoken to by what I assume was a manager, I don't really blame them.”

  “We visited on a Thursday evening at 7 - the pub was not busy, and the weather was sunny with people sitting outside. When we entered the bar there were 3 staff present....none of whom acknowledged us. Eventually we got drinks and went outside to sit, and after multiple attempts using the ordering app, ordered food (lamb shank, and chicken schnitzel, which was supposed to come with onion rings, chips, fresh salad and garlic and herb drizzle). We are reasonably tech savvy but the app was rubbish. The food was delivered by a server who grunted and plonked the plates down. I queried the absence of the dressing but was just stared at, so I took the path of least resistance and asked for moyo instead. Sauces were also delivered without a word or glance. We tried to order more drinks but again the app would not work so has to go inside to do so. Not a problem to do so, but an annoying tech hitch. As to food, I think my husband's lamb shank was ok. However sadly my onion rings were stone cold, and the chips weren't far behind. The schnitzel, clearly the last thing out of the fryer, was hot. On close inspection, my supposedly fresh salad was on its way to slushville and I decided it was actually unsafe to eat...I could smear the pepper flesh across the plate. The food at best was therefore adequate, which I would for once have mentioned had anyone bothered to ask - but they didn't, even when removing a plate clearly still containg half the meal. We were only visiting the area for 2 days, and I very rarely leave reviews. But the whole experience was so awful that I couldn't not. If only the staff had engaged, smiled, spoken...if only the food had been edible, if only the ordering app had worked....it could have been so different!”

  “For a large chain pub the atmosphere for afternoon tea was surprisingly relaxed and civil. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The afternoon tea was ok for the price.”

  “We just got married and decided to stop here for some food before we drive home. The welcome was lovely. The food was amazing, and such good value for money. All of the staff were so friendly. They made our lunch fabulous. Will definitely be returning now we knoe about this place and we are not even local. Great team”

  “★☆☆☆☆ Extremely disappointing experience at The White Hart in Crowborough. This visit was meant to be special, as the afternoon tea voucher was a birthday gift for my girlfriend. Unfortunately, it turned into a frustrating and embarrassing situation. We had a prepaid voucher worth £32 (£16 per person), clearly intended to cover the afternoon tea (sandwiches and cakes). We also ordered beers separately and paid for those in full by card. At the end, when redeeming the voucher, a young staff member who claimed to be the manager insisted that we had to pay an additional £7–£9 because the voucher was “worth £39.” This made no logical sense, as we did not order anything beyond what was included. When I calmly asked for an explanation, the only answer I received was: “I don’t know, company policy.” That is simply unacceptable when asking customers to pay extra. It honestly felt like we were being taken advantage of, possibly because we are not local. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, the situation was handled with confusion, lack of accountability, and zero customer care. What should have been a nice birthday experience was completely ruined over a small but unjustified charge. I decided not to argue further and left the extra money, but the principle matters. Very poor management and disappointing service. I would not recommend this place.”

  “Had the most delicious pie for dinner this evening! Steak and Malbec pie. Definitely recommend. Veg fresh, mash delicious and pie hot and tasty. Excellent service. Even better 50% off as it’s Monday.”

  “Where to start? I mean, the staff were friendly but they seem short staffed and in a very noise environment! I understand this is family friendly but the screaming and mess made by the families was ridiculous! The drinks took 10 minutes, the meal around 20 minutes and they had to come back to ask us twice about the burger. They wouldn't accept our Groupon voucher which was for a roast dinner for 2 with 2 wine / beer or soft drinks. They wouldn't honour the voucher for a soft drink (wine only) and only had lamb shank available (which on the main menu showed a selection of 4). The burger was dry and very bland, the lamb shank was more lamb, less shank! Very little sauce and not much vegetables! Overall, the food wasn't great! The only thing that made the evening tolerable was the staffs lovely smiles and friendliness. We came, ate and left within 40 minutes! Personally, I wouldn't come back again!”

  “We had an afternoon tea here today. We weren't quite sure what to expect as it's more of a pub vibe. But we were pleasantly surprised, we were seated in a quiet corner which was nice. And even though there was a bbq and music going on in the gardens , it didn't effect us at all. Staff were all very nice and the food was too.”

  “Stopped by the white Hart on the green for the first time yesterday. There is a great selection of food and drink with the staff being really knowledgeable in their recommendations. For food my partner and I went for the gammon(mushroom and tomato removed) and the trio roast. The presentation was great and the quality of the food was excellent. We also ordered a side of dauphinoise potatoes and they were absolutely perfect. Compliments to the chef. Unfortunately we visited on a day when the weather was miserable but this pub has everything going for it. Beautiful interior, huge garden space, plenty of parking, great staff and delicious food and drinks. We will definitely be returning”
