Quick info
About The Hare
The Hare is a pub on Langton Rd in Tunbridge Wells, with a menu of 57 dishes that puts British pies alongside Asian-style pork belly. Guests can sit by an open fire or outside beside the village green, and dogs are welcome. The building is an old English pub, and one part of it is quieter than the rest. On Sundays the kitchen serves a roast, with roast pork or a mixed beef and pork belly option, plus roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese. A vegetarian version of the roast is available. The lentil pie gives meat-free diners a pie of their own, and the sticky toffee pudding sits on the dessert menu. The bar pours a selection of real ales and an alcohol free beer on tap. Parking is limited, with road parking nearby.

Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast draws the most mentions, with one reviewer calling the roast pork faultless and another naming it the best roast dinner they have eaten in a pub. A mixed beef and pork belly roast split opinion. That diner found the pork belly well seasoned, with tasty roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, but the beef tough, the gravy thin and lacking flavour, and the cauliflower cheese in need of more sauce. They also said nobody asked how the meal or drinks were. Close behind, the lentil pie and steak burger earn strong praise from two reviewers. Others mention fish and chips, grilled sea bass, a beef salad with cashew in its batter, and a sticky toffee pudding described as stodgy and excellent, while the butternut squash soup was called average. Reviewers describe a cosy, welcoming room, lovely staff, a good selection of real ales, alcohol free beer on tap, and a lovely outside area. One party was seated in a quieter part of the pub to suit a relative's deafness, and another arrived shortly before the kitchen closed and was never rushed.

“I had the butternut squash soup, beef salad and sticky toffee pudding. The soup was average but with nice bread, the beef was excellent with crunch cashew in its batter but the sweet chilli sauce wasn’t the best and the sticky toffee pudding was stodgy and excellent. Overall it has a great atmosphere and quality food.”

“Lovely pub with amazing food and a nice cosy atmosphere. We ordered the roast and it was the best roast dinner I've eaten in a pub... everything was absolutely perfect. They have alcohol free beer on tap which is a bonus. Parking is limited but there is road parking available. I would highly recommend this establishment.”

“Went there last Sunday to celebrate my 50th with my kids and parents. Great experience. We were well looked after before we began, they started us in a great place to accommodate my mum's deafness (quieter part of the pub). There followed excellent food and service. A great menu with all the food showing thought and care. A really memorable meal, thanks to everyone involved.”
