About The Ragged Trousers
The Ragged Trousers is a family-run pub in Tunbridge Wells, at 44 The Pantiles, established in 2006 and open daily. The kitchen works with local suppliers and builds its dishes around the seasons. Starters include a lamb shoulder flatbread with yoghurt, pomegranate, dill and molasses, and a beef tartare served over a homemade hash brown. On Sundays the roast comes with pork, roast beef or half a chicken, with roast potatoes, and cauliflower cheese is offered as a side. The bar pours lagers, ales, wines and cocktails, and Hawkstone beer is on tap.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the Sunday roast, with the pork and the chicken both singled out, and one calls the roast beef among the best in a long time. The lamb shoulder flatbread comes up repeatedly, alongside the beef tartare on a homemade hash brown, the steak and chips, and the burnt basque cheesecake, described as creamy. One diner praises the sourdough with Marmite and Guinness butter, and another recommends a side of cauliflower cheese with the beef. Staff are called friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is described as warm, lively and a proper pub vibe. Reviewers also mention Hawkstone on tap, and one says the chef came out to present some of the dishes. The complaints are small. One diner found the hash brown under the tartare overwhelming, another felt chilly by the front door each time it opened, and a third waited ages for the bill. One reviewer suggests booking in advance because of the number of walk-ins.

“My boyfriend and I popped by yesterday for a drink and then stayed for lunch. We had their chicken Sunday roast and it was so good! Such a great price for a huge half of chicken with the usual Sunday roast suspects. The roast potatoes were fab too. I left a little chicken simply because you're given such a good amount. I'd definitely recommend this as a place for people to visit. And the staff are really lovely and friendly too.”

“We were looking for a dog friendly restaurant in Tunbridge Wells and stopped by The Ragged Trousers without expecting anything special. As soon as we were handed the menu we were completely confounded. Was this the perfect menu? Every single dish sounded delicious and choosing what to order felt like an impossible task. We eventually settled on the bone marrow, fried olives, lamb shoulder with yoghurt, pomegranate, dill and molasses on flatbread, chicken skin butter with toast, and the beef tartare. Everything was excellent. We definitely ordered too much and finished almost everything, leaving only the hash brown underneath the tartare which would have been better with less of it. We will absolutely be seeking out The Ragged Trousers again. One hundred percent would recommend.”

“I just had a great roast at The Ragged Trousers last week and it’s such a nice traditional pub! We had beef croquets and homemade hash browns for starters which were great, and then the roast beef for main. It was one of the best roasts I have in a long-time and I really recommend ordering a side of cauliflower cheese with it. We finished off with a burnt basque cheesecake and sticky toffee which were delicious!! The chef also came up and presented some of the food to us which I thought was a nice touch. The pub had a really nice vibe to it and also had Hawkstone beer on tap which was really good. If you want to go, make sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment as there were quite a few walk-ins during our meal. Highly recommend and I’ll be coming back soon!”
