Customer Review Summary

Steak is the most repeated draw, with reviewers describing a ribeye and other steaks cooked exactly as wanted. Close behind, one diner loved the roast beef with Yorkshire puddings and a gravy they called the tastiest ever, and another thoroughly enjoyed the slow-cooked pork belly. One reviewer found the first scallops a little overdone, but the chef replaced them in person and the second round was outstanding. Staff are called friendly and attentive, though one solo diner was asked seven times whether everything was okay. The atmosphere is described as lovely, warm and not too loud, and there is an outdoor space where children can run around. The main complaint is slow food. Two parties waited 45 minutes for meals, and another blamed a system fault. One Caesar salad arrived without croutons or Italian hard cheese, the Chicken Parmigiana was overcooked, and the Katsu Chicken Rice Bowl had soggy rice. One reviewer also noted the shared fryer. After the long wait, a waitress apologised and took the drinks off the bill.

“We’ve visited here a few times now and have always had a fantastic meal. The steak is consistently cooked exactly how you like it, and the staff are lovely, friendly and very accommodating. There’s also a great outdoor space where the little ones can run around and have fun. They host some fantastic events throughout the year for both adults and children, which really adds to the experience. Definitely a great place to visit!”

“Just finishing our lovely lunch. Friendly staff, able to eat outside. Attentive but not intrusive service. First round of starter scallops were a little overdone but they were promptly replaced by a lovely smily chef, delivered personally and were outstanding. Food really good, reasonable prices too.”

“Stopped for lunch as a party of three. After ordering our drinks, which arrived quite quickly, we placed our food order about five minutes later. Unfortunately, we then had to wait 45 minutes for our meals, despite the pub not being particularly busy. To make matters more frustrating, the table that ordered before us had their meals served, finished eating, and were preparing to leave just as our food finally arrived. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana. Sadly, the chicken was overcooked with very little tomato and mozzarella sauce. The mozzarella on top was burnt on one side, making the whole dish dry and lacking flavour. The Katsu Chicken Rice Bowl was presented very well, but the rice was a soggy mess. It should have been sticky rice, but instead it was overcooked and unappetising, so most of it was left. We chose not to complain about the food at the time because, after already waiting 45 minutes, we didn’t know how long it would take for replacement meals to arrive. The third meal, the Slow-Cooked Pork Belly, was thoroughly enjoyed, so two out of the three dishes were disappointing rather than all three. I must say the waitress was excellent. She apologised for the delay and kindly removed our drinks from the bill, which was a thoughtful gesture and much appreciated. The service itself was friendly and professional, so I have no complaints about the staff. However, the long wait and poor quality of two of the three meals mean that, unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be returning.”

“Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish. We waited 45 minutes for a Caesar salad, and it still hadn’t been brought to our table. As we had an event to get to, we eventually had to ask the manager to put it into a takeaway box because we simply couldn’t wait any longer. Unfortunately, we didn’t realise just how poor the salad was until we opened it at the event. The menu describes it as containing little gem lettuce, baby spinach, cucumber ribbons, cherry tomatoes, rustic croutons, Caesar dressing and Italian hard cheese. What we actually received was a handful of leaves, a few chunks of cucumber, half a cherry tomato and some dressing. There were no croutons and no Parmesan/Italian hard cheese whatsoever. The cucumber also looked old and far from fresh. At £16.75, this was incredibly poor value for money. It looked nothing like the menu description and certainly wasn’t worth the price. Had we been served the meal in the restaurant as expected, we would have sent it straight back. Unfortunately, because we had to leave and ask for it to be boxed up after waiting 45 minutes with no food, we only discovered how bad it was once we arrived at our event, leaving us with no opportunity to have it put right. What made the experience even more concerning was that, while we were waiting, we saw other customers sending their food back because they were unhappy with the quality. That suggested our experience wasn’t an isolated incident. A 45-minute wait for a salad that never even made it to the table, followed by a meal with key ingredients missing and such poor quality, is simply unacceptable. I won’t be returning and certainly wouldn’t recommend ordering this dish.”
