Customer Review Summary
The children's play area is what reviewers mention most, with several praising the adventure playground and outdoor space and calling the pub family friendly. The staff are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful, and one reviewer mentions a good selection of beer and ale. Food is where opinions split. Positive reviews single out venison that was tender and tasty, a turkey dinner with plenty of meat, mains served piping hot, and nice starters and desserts. Others were let down. One describes a roast swimming in watery gravy with bland chicken, another found the burger and pizza unappetising, and a third calls the pizza underwhelming. One diner reports a thickly breaded calamari, an oily carbonara and a pepperoni pizza dripping with oil, and says a staff member explained that oil is always added on top, though the menu lists only chilli honey. Another reviewer describes a veggie club sandwich with dried-out bread and barely warm chips, with the coleslaw served in a paper cup.

“Fantastic afternoon meal in a beautiful location, food was very nice, in fact the best meal I’ve had out in a long time. Staff are very friendly and helpful, very family friendly. Amazing adventure playground for the kids! First time here but won’t be our last, this is our new favourite place.”

“Excellent food drinks and especially good for familys with a good play area. Plenty of seating indoors and out abd can likewise eat indoors or out.”

“Stopped for some impromptu lunch…. To be honest wish I hadn’t bothered. I had a ‘veggie club sandwich’. When it finally got to me nearly 30 mins later, the chips (£4 supplement) were barely warm… the bread on the sandwich had dried out like it had been toasted (that dry!) and the coleslaw was served in a paper cup that normally holds medication for some people! Really disappointed”

“This is just the place for you if you like: Seasonal vegetables - in other words a dollop of cabbage; Buttery mashed potato - anyone remember Smash? For those too young - reconstituted potato powder; Red wine sauce - another well known maker of powdered food - or gravy to be more precise; Peace and quiet - getting away from everyone, because the word has clearly gone out - this is no place to dine! As for the pizza - completely underwhelming at every level!”
