About Golden Fleece
The Golden Fleece is a pub at 84 Duke St in Chelmsford, open daily. Daytime service centres on craft beer, with cask ales on offer. In the evening the format shifts to live DJs or bands, and there is room to dance. Sport gets plenty of screen space, with numerous TVs inside, including small screens at tables. The beer garden out the back adds outside TVs, so a match can be watched from there too. Bottomless brunch is offered, with food and drinks included in the package.

Customer Review Summary
Bottomless brunch is the clear draw, with four reviewers praising the food, the cocktails and the drinks that "just kept coming," one saying it beat the bottomless offers they would otherwise travel to London for. Servers and hosts get repeated credit for kindness and speed, including a bartender who anticipated the next round and a server who stayed on top of drinks for a big group. Close behind are the lively atmosphere, live music with room to dance, 2 for 1 cocktails, and a beer garden with plenty of seating. One reviewer praised an extra cold Guinness and the background music, another a decent selection of cask ales. The main complaints concern match days. One reviewer arrived two hours before a game to find every table reserved while about ten sat open, and also called the surge pricing on drinks mental. Another found the many TVs hard to avoid, though the sound was off during the visit. A third called it touristy with above average prices and service that was OK but not very friendly at 11 AM, while still liking the terrace and its many TVs.

“Pre pride bottomless brunch at the fleece was a win. Leonie is an absolute legend. She knew I needed another drink before we even knew it. Lovely food and atmosphere”

“Always a great atmosphere when I visit, perfect venue for friends and family or even by yourself. There is usually live music on which is all good and plenty of room to dance, 2 for 1 cocktails that are to die for. Always busy and has a beer garden outisde with lots of seating”

“Nice place with a nice terrace, but very turisty. Not the tipical pub but really nice and large place with a wonderful terrace and lots of TVs. I am sure it is a popular place among locals. Prices are on average and above, but I guess location and rent most be paid. Service was OK, not very friendly but then again it was early in morning (11 AM) but that should not matter. No drink specials and nothing out of ordinary, had no food so cannot rate it, but it is a place OK if you are around. On a good day they have lovely terrace.”

“We have been in a couple times for celebrations after exams. We have been served by Tom twice, whose service is absolutely fab ! Thank you so much, he’s always on it with drinks even with a big group, super speedy and made our final celebration so special ! Thank you”

“Think it’s very bad business that you arrive 2 hours prior to a match and every single table is reserved. People coming to spend good money and drink two hours prior to and during match getting turned away because there is not even one place to sit when there are 10 open tables. Kinda glad this place lose out on all of that business to just hold tables for 1.5 hours when they could have business for 3.5 hours. Also surge pricing on drinks is mental. Do better.”

“Well known throughout Chelmsford, the Golden Fleece is an inviting and relaxed craft pub by day, and a lively party with live DJs or bands by night. With an excellent outside area including outside TVs, stop by to catch the game and stay for a drink, a dance, or for dinner!”
