About The Knights Templar
The Knights Templar is a Wetherspoon pub in Bristol, at 1 The Square beside Bristol Temple Meads railway station. A screen showing live train departures lets guests check their train while they eat or drink. Inside, a large open-plan hall with tall ceilings holds plenty of tables. Ordering runs through the app, and guests get a table number first so food and drinks are brought to them. The all-day food menu includes a breakfast menu with a strict cutoff time and a Large Breakfast, and coffee comes with refills. The bar pours up to 9 real ales. Toilets are upstairs.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the position beside Temple Meads station, calling it handy for a stop before or after a train, and one mentions a screen showing live departures while eating a Large Breakfast. Cheap, quick food comes close behind: several say orders placed on the app arrive within minutes, and one singles out the coffee refills as much appreciated. Others mention outside seating, plenty of free tables, and up to nine real ales in a modern Spoons that one visitor found quieter than the Inverness branch. Staff are described as friendly and helpful, and one reviewer extends that to the management and cleaners. The main complaint concerns timing. One diner who arrived a few minutes after the breakfast menu ended was told the cutoff is a hard and fast rule, so they paid more for less and felt the value fell short of expectations. Another says the pub is not easy to find from the station unless leaving by the small east exit. One diner whose order was mixed up had the right food brought out and the overpayment refunded.

“Stopped in here on my way to the airport rather than pay ridiculous prices at Bristol airport. Warm summers morning, plenty of tables free inside and outside. Sat outside and ordered on the app. Drink was brought out after a couple of minutes, and food just a couple of minutes after that. Pretty much exactly the same as any other spoons.....but for the price, really good value for money. Staff were also friendly and attentive which was a bonus.”

“It's a Spoons, so you already know the drill. Cheap food, cheap drinks, and a clientele that can make you question what day of the week it is. The Templar does have one major advantage over many other Spoons: it's right next to the railway station and even has a screen showing live train departures. You can sit down for a Large Breakfast, keep one eye on your sausage and the other on your platform number, and still make your train without any panic. The staff are genuinely lovely, from management to the cleaners. They're friendly, hardworking, and somehow remain cheerful regardless of what chaos unfolds around them. Weekend mornings are the best time to visit. It's relatively peaceful, the breakfast is spot on, and the atmosphere is uniquely Wetherspoons. While you're enjoying your tea and toast, you'll likely spot the dedicated doors opening hard-core alcoholics already several hours into what appears to be a very ambitious day. It's less a breakfast venue and more a live documentary on British society. Some of the finest people-watching this side of the railway tracks.”

““The Knights Templar” Walking into The Knights Templar feels like stepping into a retired financial hall that’s been repurposed for maximum pint efficiency. No medieval fantasy, no church cosplay—just a big, solid space that now runs on lager instead of ledgers 🍺 🏛️ The Setting This is where it quietly flexes: Huge open-plan hall Tall ceilings with proper breathing room Classic, slightly formal architecture (columns, symmetry, order) It’s got that “serious building, unserious purpose” energy. You can tell it used to mean business—now it’s just here to serve drinks at scale. 🍔 Food & Drink Let’s not overcomplicate it: Cheap ✔️ Fast ✔️ Consistent ✔️ You already know what you’re getting—and that’s the whole point. It’s reliable fuel, not fine dining. 👥 The Crowd Standard Wetherspoons ecosystem: Office workers powering down Tourists clocking the size of the place Regulars locked into their usual spot like it’s reserved by law It’s busy, but not chaotic—more like a well-run system. ⚙️ Operations App ordering keeps things moving. Food lands quick. Drinks rotate efficiently. It’s basically a high-volume, low-friction machine. ⚖️ Final Verdict No gimmicks. No pretending to be something it’s not. Just a big, dependable pub in a building with history. ⭐ 4.3 / 5 — “Built for business. Now built for pints.””
