About The Old Duke
The Old Duke is a pub at 45 King St in Bristol, with live jazz playing every night. It is named after Duke Ellington, and jazz sets the theme for the music. Rock and rock 'n' roll bands also take the stage, and an open mic evening gives local musicians a turn. At the bar, Timothy Taylor pints sit alongside a selection of other beers. The building is a traditional old pub on cobbled King Street, close to the river bank. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Live jazz is what reviewers return to most, with music described as playing seven nights a week and sets of Duke Ellington numbers drawing praise from those who sat in the sun. Close behind are the pints, with Timothy Taylor singled out as poured properly, and a beer selection that several say adds to the draw. Rock bands and an open mic evening with local musicians also get mentions. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and efficient, with one reviewer noting they seemed to enjoy their jobs and each other's company. The old pub setting, a slightly dingy feel, and bench seating outside on the cobbled street near the river round out the atmosphere. The only caution is that it gets crowded on nights and weekends. One visitor ended a three day stay in the city with a couple of hours of live jazz outdoors.
