About The Crown Tavern
The Crown Tavern is a pub on Lawfords Gate in Bristol, close to Temple Meads and the city centre. Northern soul evenings and jam nights run alongside a quiz night, darts and live music, which gives the pub a varied events line-up. The bar pours Bass next to local cask beers, ales and ciders, including Cheddar Ales. A dartboard is set up for the darts nights, and live sport is shown on screen. The building is a refit of an older pub, with traditional character kept alongside modern touches, and an open fireplace sits in the room. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Bass is the pour reviewers return to most, served alongside local ales, ciders and a huge array of beers on tap, including cask beers from Cheddar Ales, and one regular mentions the Bass club. Friendly bar staff come up in most reviews, and several describe going back for quiz night, darts and live music at weekends, with one praising the band and another a music event. Many say the refit kept the traditional pub feel, singling out the open fireplace and the fresh, modern toilets, and one calls the drink prices great. One dissenting reviewer found the refit horrendous, saying the old character was ripped out and thrown in a skip and replaced with cold sterility, with a bar like the counter where you get test results and a look like a trendy care home. Another reviewer adds that the staff love dogs.

“Horrendous, horrendous refit of what was a beautiful, characterful old pub. Yes it needed a lot of tidying up & some modernising but it had great bones. They've been ripped out & thrown in a skip & replaced with cold sterility. The place looks like a trendy care home circa 2080. The bar looks like somewhere you would get test results back or the counter at a Pokémon Centre. Why are people like this?”

“Great vibes, really friendly bar staff, the band was great. Played a round of darts. Very traditional pub vibes with a modern refurbishment done excellently. Thanks Eden!!”

“Lovely to see this pub rejuvenated with great staff and ales. Good luck. I grew up in the area and moved out in the 80s. Been popping in and out over the years .Will certainly revisit. Well done Sam and his team. We live the Bank too”
