About Portwall Tavern
Portwall Tavern is a pub in Bristol at 1 Portwall Ln, set in a single Victorian room and listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. The cask ales on the bar change, which gives real ale drinkers something new to try, and a Twisted brewery beer has been among them. Draught lager, cider and wine are on the bar too. Customer Review Summary
Lunchtime burgers draw the most praise, with reviewers describing a burger and chips for around a tenner, a miso mushroom burger that was delicious, and the largest wedges one diner had seen. A pulled pork ciabatta also gets a mention, and several call the lunches good value with big portions. Close behind is the outside seating, which reviewers repeatedly describe as a lovely spot in the sunshine now the street is closed to traffic. Drinks come up often too, with a good selection of beer and cider, changing real ales including one from a Wiltshire brewery, and a draught lager one reviewer called clean. Staff are described as friendly, and the bar service as quick, with food arriving in reasonable time. The only caution comes from one reviewer who says it is worth booking for a Friday lunch. Reviewers also single out the bar staff and the lunchtime burger, with one diner calling it the best they could get anywhere.

“Me and two friends popped in here on a Friday lunchtime just to get a bite to eat and £15 each later for a Burger, Chips and a pint absolutely well chuffed. Great pint and the burger was immaculate. For a lunchtime burger you won't get better.. probably anywhere TBF it was really THAT good. Also where else can you get a burger for a tenner these days outside of spoons? Great value, great food, great atmosphere. We were actually surprised by how good it was, which shouldn't be the case right? But wow top notch, well done chaps keep it up. I think it was the chap with the 'tach that served us so well done you deserve a raise.”

“Flat Eric and Boothroyd making their first visit to Bristol. Only my second in 70 years. Started our pub crawl here. A CAMRA Good Beer Guide pub. A one room pub making the most of their outside seating on a sunny mid March afternoon. Three real ales. A new brewery for me and Flat Eric, Twisted from Westbury in Wiltshire. Canteen Cowboy. Good value simple food served. A lovely Victorian boozer.”
