  “The food is absolutely filthy they use rotten chips I found a maggot in the chicken burger I asked for sauce they gave practically nothing the food is dry and bland there was hair in my food I don't know how they have a 5 star food hygiene rating it's dirty this place needs to be shut down my food smelt horrible and tasted horrible honestly worst food place I've ever been to I waited over an hour by the time they was done all my other food was cold and it was severely greasy there was mold in the burger bun and my chicken nibbles were uncooked this place needs to be shut down”

  “Went for chicken and chips now I have food poisoning and have been throwing up all day don’t go here!!! should of checked the reviews before hand,the guy was nice who was serving only positive of the place absolutely stank in there don’t know why i ever went to order food”

  “Not nice. I saw on their menu they serve cod fish and chips. There was one person working behind the counter and a couple of others flitting around. No one aske me what I waited. Waited for the main worker but he still hadn't finished a basic order for someone else. Then another person comes up and tries to knick my spot as next in line. Then when I get asked what I want eventually, after 10 minutes of waiitng, I ask for the cod fish and chips that's on their wall menu. The reply, we dont do COD. Complete waste of time this place.”

  “Hygiene, cleanliness, food quality all are very poor. I went to buy food and saw mice droppings in between the counter. Luckily i took a pic which i will be forwarding to Birmingham city Council and food standard agencies. The staff look very filthy and poorly dressed/groomed. One staff member was coughing all over the food he was preparing. The chips are very dark and poor quality due to the oil not being changed and cheap potatoes being used. The colour wasnt due to seasoning as i saw them being taken out of the oil with dirt stuck on them. This place needs serious reformation and complete transformation including the food quality and staff and food hygiene. So many negative reviews says it all. By the way I expect the owners to reply with complete disregard to customer concerns and most likely will deny everything. Not apologise. Most likely will be sarcastic and oblivious to the serious issues that are damaging their reputation and business. Their replies shows you they are cowboys!!! If a customer complains whilst in the shop, they become rude and completely disregard the customers concerns hence customers are too afraid to raise their issues incase they get a load full of insults and abuse!!!”

  “I’m honestly baffled at how this place has managed to get a 5-star hygiene rating, because what I experienced was nothing short of shocking. If this is what counts as “top standard” for food hygiene, then something is seriously wrong. Let’s start right from the entrance. The moment you step inside, you’re hit with this musty, greasy smell that clings to your clothes. The carpet by the door is so filthy that you can actually feel your shoes sink into the grime with every step. It’s sticky, worn, and clearly hasn’t been cleaned in years. Looking around, the windows are covered in layers of dirt and streaks, as though they haven’t seen a cloth or cleaning spray for months. For a place selling food, you’d expect some pride in presentation but instead it looks like a neglected corner shop that’s been forgotten about. The display inside the shop is no better. The glass counter where the food is kept was cloudy and greasy, with smears all over it. You couldn’t even see the food clearly, and honestly, that might have been a blessing. What I did see looked cheap, badly prepared, and completely unappetising. Then there’s the man behind the counter. I don’t like to be rude, but if you’re serving food, basic hygiene should be the minimum standard. He looked like he hadn’t showered in days. His hair was messy, his clothes stained, and his arms very hairy, with no attempt to cover them while handling food. The whole time I couldn’t stop thinking that if you eat here, you’re almost guaranteed to get a stray hair in your meal. That alone put me off. When it comes to the food itself, it looked like it was thrown together with the cheapest possible ingredients. Greasy, pale chips, meat that looked like it had been sitting around far too long, and an overall appearance that screamed “low quality.” I didn’t even feel confident enough to try most of it. But the real horror was when I went to grab a can of drink from the self-service fridge. Out of curiosity, I glanced through to the kitchen. What I saw honestly turned my stomach. The floor was stained and greasy, surfaces looked cluttered and unclean, and there was no sense of order or hygiene whatsoever. It genuinely felt like peeking into a kitchen from a third-world country no structure, no sanitation, and absolutely nothing that should give anyone confidence about eating there. At that point, I decided I couldn’t go through with eating anything from this place. Cleanliness is the worst I have ever seen in any food business, and I’ve travelled a lot. If I had actually eaten the food, I’m fairly certain I’d have ended up in hospital. And if anyone wants that experience, then by all means, visit Ben’s but for everyone else, avoid it at all costs. What makes the whole thing even more concerning is the fact they supposedly have a 5-star food hygiene rating. I cannot imagine how this was achieved unless the inspector was either paid off or is some sort of close friend doing them a favour. There is absolutely no way this shop deserves a top hygiene score it doesn’t even deserve one star. This was by far one of the most unpleasant food experiences I’ve ever had, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through the same. Please, save your money, save your health, and go literally anywhere else.”

  “Terrible chips. I don't know how any shop could see the state of the chips and actually serve them to someone. Chips were stale and had hard brown spots on them with barely any potato in them. The chicken was alright but the chips had to be thrown away. Please make sure to check your food before leaving the shop.”

  “Usually not bad but this time ordered a mixed meat burger meal(comes with drink) and scallop. The guy sent me away with a with the smallest amount of meat and charged me more than my original order would've been given that he'd made what I'd ask for. Felt very disrespected upon having to spend even more money for a drink which should've been included in the meal that I'd ordered and didn't get a scallop. If you're going to overcharge people for meals they didn't order atleast give them a good portion”

  “A slow slide down hill this place use to be a decent well priced chippy. Wasn't the fanciest place a good solid option to go. More recently the chips have taken a downwards turn, not sure if it's old oil or the potatoes. The few good things on the menu are the chicken pieces, donner and the chicken burgers. They burn the lamb burgers regularly and the chicken donner is flavourless.”

  “the food was atrocious. there was blood in my chicken. the chips were under bad. the price has gone way up.£2.50 for 1 piece chicken and chips I remember when it cost £1.20. now a single burger cost £2.5 it use to cost £1. absolutely atrocious I had food poisoning for a week!”
