About Karahi King Hall Green

Karahi King Hall Green is a Pakistani restaurant at 1154 Stratford Rd in Birmingham, with a menu built around karahi. Lamb karahi and chicken karahi lead the main dishes, and the grill side of the menu adds a large mixed grill with both lamb and chicken. Seekh kebabs and a range of curries, including butter chicken and lamb balti, give diners other options beyond the karahi. Naan and roti come with meals, so the breads are part of the table rather than an extra to hunt for. The restaurant is open daily, which means the full menu is available on any day of the week.

Customer Review Summary

Karahi draws the most comment, with lamb and chicken versions described as saucy, full of flavour and served piping hot. One reviewer, though, found the chicken karahi and meat bhuna to be mostly sauce with dry meat. Mixed grill, chicken seekh kebab and lamb biryani also earn praise, and one diner calls the lamb curry tangy with generous portions. Naans and rotis split opinion. Some find them soft and crispy, while others say they are pre-made for takeaway and dry. Reviewers also fault the lamb chops as spicy but flavourless, and one calls the fish small and dry. One reviewer reports staff handling food without gloves and a stale dish with a strange odour. Order accuracy is a recurring complaint. One diner received one naan and two roti instead of three naan, and another says they were overcharged. A third collected a takeaway, loved the butter chicken and lamb balti, then found the paid-for sheesh kebabs missing, and the phone call to query it was cut off.

“I got fish from this place and it’s the worst fish I’ve ever tasted was horrible, the price is horrific £9 for one piece of fish is crazy and it tasted nasty was so dry and literally so small one for £9 I don’t even want to give 1 star”

“Food is way below basic. Ordered chicken karahi and meat bhuna. Was basically sauce and some dry chicken and meat. Tasteless. Rotis were dry. Salad was wet. Chutney was watery. The only positive was the pepsi. The clown has no card payment facility. And to top it off, he overcharged £2.00!! The cheek of it. Avoid the this place.”

“Disappointed and sad as the food, service and general place has gone downhill. Don't know what is the reason but they pre-make the roti and naan for take out so not fresh, naan and roti was dry. Also I ordered three naan and they packed or picked the one with one naan and two roti, the guy even opened the foil and said it was three naan. The charga was just smeared with marinade but no real flavour it used to be good. Salad and chilli standard nothing different. The branch in small heath is better still, but won't be revisiting the hall green one.”

“I had one of the worst experiences at a local food shop recentl, What shocked me the most was the way the food was being handled. The staff weren’t wearing gloves, and I saw one of them touch 🍒, I decided to give it a chance and ordered something simple, but when the food arrived, it looked poorly prepared and unappetizing. After taking just one bite, I could tell something was off. It tasted stale and had a strange odor. I couldn’t continue eating it, This experience was not only disappointing but also concerning from a health perspective, I would strongly advise others to be cautious and always pay attention to cleanliness before ordering food from this place,on the top, staff is unprofessional (specially old man)disgusting and disrespectful 🤮”
