Customer Review Summary

Lamb tagine draws the most repeated praise, with one diner describing a blend of sweet and savory and another lamb that melted in the mouth, served with light, fluffy couscous. The mixed grill is close behind, called perfectly cooked and full of flavour, and the Lebanese mezze earns mentions too, especially a tabbouleh likened to a grandmother's kitchen. Reviewers also single out the kofta, the cole meze, and the mint tea pot, which one insists on ordering. Lanterns and authentic décor, generous portions, and food arriving quickly for a family group of eight come up often. Service splits opinion. One reviewer describes cutlery dumped on the table, plates only after asking, no spoons for the chicken tagine, a tagine that arrived mild despite a request for spicy, and shish taouk that was smaller and slightly burnt. Another calls staff hit or miss, found the meat shawarma underwhelming, and felt the bill was inflated, advising others to check it before paying.

“Beautifully authentic and clean interior, with a fantastic menu that has something delicious for everyone. The lighting is warm and cosy, with the comfiest seating ever! The staff were superb- organised, well dressed, they knew when the right times were to return to the table to offer more drinks, proving the staff were attentive, and service with a smile! We were so happy that we chose this restaurant! There's even somewhere to park. The location is in a lively area, so when you leave after your meal, the good atmosphere comes with you! The food was AMAZING, the lamb melted in your mouth, and the cous cous was light and fluffy. Everything was hot and fresh, with delicious flavours. The menu was so enticing, we ordered so much food and everything was 10/10! The tea afterwards is a perfect finish! I can't wait to come back!”

“The restaurant is very nice inside. Staff were hit or miss. The food was good overall but not the best. We ordered meat shawarma, meat wasn't amazing. The restaurants special shawarma. The chicken and sauce were good. The chips were decent too. The cole meze was great. Make sure you request the bill and see that it doesn't have anything extra you didn't order on it. I paid without seeing the bill and the price in hindsight seemed a bit inflated. So make sure you scrutinise the bill if there are any discrepancies”

“Al Badar Restaurant really gives you that authentic Middle Eastern feel. It's our go-to place for comfort food, and we've visited for both lunch and evening meals. The service is always excellent, with a hardworking and attentive team who make you feel welcome. The waiting time for food is very reasonable, and the dishes are consistently delicious. The décor adds to the experience, creating a warm and authentic atmosphere. If you're looking for great Middle Eastern cuisine and a relaxing dining experience, this place is definitely worth a visit.”

“We ordered food from this Lebanese restaurant for a recent event and it was absolutely wonderful. The food was fresh, generous, and full of flavour — everything was beautifully prepared and arrived in excellent condition. It added so much warmth to the gathering, and many people commented on how much they enjoyed it. Highly recommended for events or group catering. I would definitely order again.”

“Visited Badr recently and came away with mixed feelings. The food itself was decent in parts, but the service really let the experience down. The waitress dumped two sets of cutlery onto the table without much care, and we didn’t even receive plates until we asked for them — which were then shoved onto the table as well. Oddly, no spoons were provided for the chicken tagine either. The chicken tagine itself was alright, though disappointing considering I specifically asked for it to be spicy and it arrived completely mild. The kofta was genuinely good and probably the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the shish taouk wasn’t what it used to be. Previously, the chicken chunks were large, juicy, and full of flavour, but this time they were noticeably smaller and slightly burnt. Overall, the food was acceptable, but the inexperienced service left a poor impression and took away from the overall dining experience.”
