Quick info
About Kabul Darbar
Kabul Darbar is an Afghan restaurant on Ladypool Rd in Birmingham, at 141-143, open daily. The kitchen serves chapli kebabs as big as dinner plates, and the lamb karahi comes in the Charsi style alongside Charsi lamb chops. Those dishes give a table of friends or family something large to share across the middle. Seating is indoors, with a separate area at the back for anyone who wants a little distance from the front of the room. Dishes tend to reach the table one after another with gaps between them, so a meal here suits a slow evening.

Customer Review Summary
Chapli kebab is the most frequent draw, with reviewers describing portions the size of dinner plates, full of chilli, and one calling it the best they have had in England. Lamb chops and lamb karahi come close behind, praised for soft meat and a large portion that filled two takeaway containers, while Kabuli pulao gets mixed reactions. Several find the food decent but not memorable, and one says the karahi could use more flavour.

“I was disappointed with my experience at Kabul Darbar. We ordered 2–3 different meals, but unfortunately some of them were not prepared properly and did not taste fresh. The quality was inconsistent, and the food did not meet our expectations. I hope the restaurant improves its food quality and pays more attention to customer satisfaction in the future.”

“The food was yummy and the price was quite competitive. However, the time taken between serving each dish was very long. We ordered the mix grill, chapli kabab, and lamb karahi and peshwari naan. They served the mix gril and nan first, and then took another 25 minutes to serve the lamb karahi and another further 8-10 minutes to serve the chapli kabab. By the time the lamb karahi and chapli kabab were served, we were almost finished with our meal. The interior also has quite a big room for upgradation.”

“Been here twice now. Went recently with my wife. Decent seating inside and a little more private in the back. It was relatively clean. We ordered the chapal kebab, chops and lamb karahi. We asked for everything together and it was pretty quiet inside but it took 30 minutes for it to come. The food was very nice. My wife said she's had better chapal kebabs and she is very picky with chops but really liked the chops. They were nice and soft not chewy like you get in a lot of places. The karahi I enjoyed but I feel like it could've done with a bit more flavour but the lamb was very soft and they gave plenty of lamb. I do wish however that they had boycott friendly drinks as they only have coca cola, Pepsi and 7 up which are all boycott. Bill came to I think about £46 with all of that plus a peshawar naan. I probably would come again”
