Customer Review Summary

Diners most often single out the service, describing warm greetings, patient waitresses and staff who helped a grandmother choose from the menu, added extra chairs for a large group, and looked after a family when an elderly relative was injured. Close behind is the food, with a steak sandwich, a bream dish with tomato and chorizo, grilled plaice, bacon chops and a chicken burger all praised. Profiteroles and a white chocolate posset are the desserts named. One reviewer with a wheat allergy valued the range of gluten-free options and the way staff took the allergy seriously. The covered terrace, the patio and the tent-covered outdoor area are described as relaxed, with fairy lights and candles adding to the mood. The one dissenting review describes a group of six still waiting for food two hours after arriving on a Saturday, watching later arrivals get served, and being told the manager was too busy to speak with them. Another reviewer praises the loan glasses as a thoughtful touch.

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had such a lovely experience at The Pheasant at Bucklands and I really wanted to leave a review because I was so impressed with their gluten-free options. 🥰 They had an amazing range of gluten-free food, which I really appreciated. As someone with a wheat allergy, I often feel like people like me can get overlooked when eating out, so it genuinely meant a lot to have so many options to choose from. What impressed me most was how seriously the staff took my allergy. They were so understanding, helpful and reassuring, and I never felt like I was being a nuisance or that my dietary requirements were an inconvenience. That level of care makes such a huge difference when you have an allergy. The food was delicious, the service was lovely, and I’m genuinely grateful for making me feel so comfortable and included. ❤️ Thank you for taking allergies seriously and for offering such a fantastic selection of gluten-free choices. I’ll definitely be returning and would highly recommend!”

“We had a large group visit The Pheasant yesterday and we sat on the terrace outside which has a lovely relaxed vibe. The food was amazing but the best thing was the impeccable service. Our lovely waitress was so accommodating and when I arrived she asked me if there was a special occasion and if she could assist in any way to make it more special. The group arrived at different times and she kept coming back to the table to see if anyone needed a drink. She even allowed us to add more chairs and at one point we had about 3 or 4 staff members gathering chairs for our group. They went over and above to accommodate us. A huge thank you to all of you for making our evening even more special and we look forward to coming back soon.”

“We had a fantastic lunch here today. One of the best we have ever had. My husband and I took my grandmother, as we have driven past a number of times and never had time to stop. Today I’m so glad we did. The staff were absolutely lovely and very attentive. They were fantastic with my grandmother and helped her with menu choice, nothing was too much for them. We sat in the covered terrace which was beautifully decorated with fairy lights and lovely plants. We were very comfortable there out of the sunshine with a breeze coming through. The menu was really well thought out, with something for everyone. I had the most delicious steak sandwich and the best profiteroles with fresh cream I have ever had . My husband and grandmother really enjoyed their food as well. Thank you so much to the staff at The Pheasant. Hands down the best meal and value for money we have had in a long time. Cannot wait to return with friends and family.”

“We were visiting friends in the area and had a great time at The Pleasant. Our party sat in the patio on a beautiful afternoon. The drinks were fresh, the food was great, and the service was friendly and helpful. From the grilled plaice to the chicken burger and bacon chops, everything was tasty and very well prepared.”

“Thank you to this wonderful pub. The food is always excellent but tonight the customer service exceeded what we have ever experienced. An elderly family member fell and hurt her hip resulting in a hospital admission. Shaun the manager couldn’t do enough for us. He was so kind and did everything he could to help all while calmly leading his team (also very helpful). He is an asset to the pub and we are very grateful. We already were fans of the pub due to the excellent food but will definitely be returning for many more occasions. Thank you!”

“Although just a stone's throw from the centre of the lovely town of Reigate, the Pheasant is a country pub at heart, with a great deal of attention given to our gardens and terrace which overlook the beautiful countryside around. Perfectly positioned to catch the sun and with the outside fire crackling away during the evenings, you‚Äôd be hard pressed to find a more agreeable place to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining or a few sundowners during the summer months. Inside you will find a warm welcome at our large and bustling bar at the centre of the pub, bursting with local ales, great wines and a rather impressive gin collection.”
